Lot 1621A:
Sands Of Mali, the 2018 British Champions Sprint Stakes (G1) winner, sells for 600,000gns.
The son of Panis was bought by part-owner Peter Swann of The Cool Silk Partnership.
Underbidder was Pamela Cordina, the manager of Phoenix Thoroughbred Ladies Syndicate; Phoenix Thoroughbreds bought into the colt ahead of his run in the Al Quoz Sprint last March.
"I am delighted, we will make stud plans for him now, it has been a difficult process for us all," said Swann. "He does not owe us anything and he will go back to Richard's to relax for a week while we finalise things.
"We have had interest from a number of studs, so it won't be a problem getting this sorted. He has a pretty clear pedigree being a son of Miswaki."
Sands Of Mali was bought at the 2018 Ascot Breeze-Up from Bansha House Stud by The Cool Silk Partnership / Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for £75,000.
In addition to his Group 1 success, he also won the Gimcrack Stakes (G2), the Sandy Lane Stakes (G2) and the Prix Sigy (G3). He also finished second in Royal Ascot's Commonwealth Cup (G1).
He was BHA rated 118 at his height and was a recent wildcard entry.

Lot 1591:
John Clarke of behalf of Sunderland Holding Inc goes to 180,000gns for Vandella.
A daughter of Invincible Spirit, she is out of Lady Livius, the dam of the dual Group 3 winners Burnt Sugar and Brown Sugar, who also placed fourth in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
The second dam produced two black-type horses, including the speedy Mill Reef Stakes (G2) winner and Golden Jubilee Stakes runner-up Galeota.
(20:17)
Lot 1585:
Deadly Reel was possibly not the most talented of racehorses – although she was placed she did not win in 11 starts.
However, since her birth in 2015 two talented half-siblings have appeared, both by No Nay Never – the 2016 filly called Nay Lady Nay, winner of the Mrs Revere Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs since the catalogue was printed, and probably more significantly her 2017 half-brother, Arizona.
This year he won the Coventry Stakes (G2), finished second in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1), third in the National Stakes (G1), fourth in the Prix Morny (G1) and the fifth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).
They are not the only talented members of the family – second dam Bright Generation was a champion three-year-old in Italy and is dam of Rumored, the dam of the champion two-year-old Dabirsim.
Deadly Reel, sold The Castlebridge Consignment today, made 160,000gns.
(20:11)
Lot 1573:
the US-based Glen Hill Farms and Norelands Stud partner on Spirit Bear, an unraced daughter of Smart Strike out of the Group 3 winner Wonderfully (Galileo).
She cost 320,000gns, was sold in-foal to Lope De Vega and was signed for by De Burgh Equine.
Craig Bernick of Glen Hill said: "We board around seven mares at Norelands, but this is the first mare we have gone in together on.
"We sold Wonderfully carrying her – we love this family so very pleased to buy her back.
"She is by Smart Strike – he is the sire of Curlin and English Channel, he is a very good broodmare sire and by Mr. Prospector. Her dam Wonderfully was not a typical Galileo in that she won over 6f and as a two-year-old and it is the fast family of Invincible Spirit."
(19:36)
Lot 1549:
"She is coming home," said Henri Bozo of Ecurie des Monceaux after buying Mulan from Tweenhills Farm & Stud for 420,000gns
The three-year-old Kingman filly was bred by Monceaux with Skymarc Farm Inc, purchased by David Redvers as a yearling for Qatar Racing. She raced for the partnership Kin Hung Kei & Qatar Racing Ltd.
She won as a three-year-old.
"It is a family that keeps producing, and it is the family that has made Monceaux," added Bozo. "We will cover her well – we have an idea of stallions but we have some partners and we need to discuss, I don't wish to be bossy!"
Mulan is a daughter of the top producer Platonic (Zafonic), dam of the Group 3 winner Pacifique and the Listed winner Prudeniza.
She is dam of the champion and Irish Oaks winner Chicquita and the recent Mackinnon Stake (G1) winner Magic Wand.
She is a well-deserved winner at the highest level having been a multiple Group 1 runner-up and placed.
(18:38)
Lot 1540:
Whatton Manor Stud sells the Group 3 winner Dr Simpson for 250,000gns to Yeomanstown Stud.
The Dandy Man filly hails from the family of the champion Soviet Song, the champion sprinter Marsha, who sold at the December Mares Sale for 6,000,000gns in 2017 bought by MV Magnier, and the champion older mare Ribbons. Her 2019 yearling by Dubawi fetched 725,000gns at this October's Book 1 Yearling Sale, bought by Westerberg.
(18:17)
Lot 1535:
the seven-time winner and Prix de Pomone (G2) runner-up Mango Tango (Siyouni) is heading to Japan, bought by Akinori Yano of Yano Farm through JS Company.
"We really like her and wanted to buy a mare from the Pivotal line – she is a daughter of Siyouni," said Yano, who has 25 broodmares at his farm. "We would like to send her to stallion Lord Kanaloa, the son of King Kamehameha. She will travel straight to Japan now."
Mango Tango was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment in-foal to Showcasing on an April 22nd covering.
Asked if he had more horses to buy, Yano said: "I am done now, they will be too expensive tomorrow!"

A packed sale ring
gathered to see the Waddesdon Stud dispersal of the late Lady Rothschild's broodmare band sell (Lot
1502 - Lot
1517).
The top-priced lot from the draft was the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Thistle Bird, the daughter of Selkirk, in-foal to leading second-season sire Kingman (Lot
1515). She was bought by James Wigan of London Thoroughbred Services for 750,000gns.
Wigan also purchased the first from the draft to go through the ring – Aflame (Shamardal), in-foal to Havana Gold, for 675,000gns (Lot
1502).
Northern Farm and Ballylinch Stud were among the underbidders.
"Aflame has been purchased for Erdenheim Farm, and Thistle Bird for George Strawbridge," said Wigan, formerly bloodstock advisor to Lady Rothschild. "I obviously know the families and the horses well and have seen them; it is nice that it can carry on with my clients. No plans have been made yet as regards stallions."
Wigan purchased five lots for the Pennsylvania-based Erdenheim Farm at this sale last year.
Of the dispersal, Wigan said: "It is the end of an era and it is sad, but the draft were beautifully turned out. The mares have gone, but there are still yearlings to come to sell next year and there are horses in training, too."
Bill Dwan of The Castlebridge Consignment, in charge of consigning the dispersal, added: "It all went well. It is sad as it is the end of an era, but am pleased to see the mares sell well and go to good homes.
"It was a thrill and honour to be asked to do this, and the mares came from Waddeston looking a million."
Lady Rothschild died in January at the age of 83. The highlight of her breeding and racing career were the Group 1 victories of Nathaniel in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Eclipse Stakes.
Nathaniel's Oasis Dream half-sister Willoughby, in-foal to Lope De Vega (Lot
1517), was bought by Graeng Bloodstock for 310,000gns, while Rocksavage (Lot
1512 ) was bought by Haras du Mont dit Mont for 160,000gns.
The 14 lots to go through the ring fetched a total of 3,193,000gns
(17:34)
Lot 1495:
"She is a very attractive mare, an easy mover and in-foal to a stallion we all want to have a bit of action with," said David Redvers after going to 310,000gns for the Galileo mare Away. She is in-foal to the successful second-season sire No Nay Never.
"She will come back to the farm, but no decision on stallions has been made yet – she might be one for Zoustar.
"We are trying to buy some nice mares and she will be owned by Qatar Racing or in some form of partnership with Qatar Racing – we'll work it out once we know where we are with things."
Away, sold by Norelands Stud, is a full-sister to the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Leo Gali, and a half-sister to Hazel Lavery. She is a Group 3 winner of the St Simon Stakes and dam of the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed The Revenant.
(16:04)
Lot 1480:
and Lot
1482 and Lot
1462 – are all bought by Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf of Trevor Hemmings.
Hemmings is better known as a leading owner and breeder in the NH sphere, and this is a first venture down a commercial Flat bloodstock route.
"They are going to my son Philip's Wood Farm Stud in Shropshire," said Hemmings. "It is to give him a little bit of a leg up into this side of things."
Anthony Bromley added: "Trevor also bought the Galileo colt Flag Of Honour earlier this year. He is standing at The National Stud and two of these will probably go to be covered by him – the Shamardal mare [Lot 1482] looks as though she'd be dinger to be covered by him.
"We'll think a little about what to do next spring with he Frankel mare's covering plans, but all the foals will be sold, probably next year. You can't go wrong buying from Juddmonte."
Of the decision to buy a new stallion, Bromley added: "Trevor has Scorpion and Cloudings before, and was very keen to buy a son of Galileo as a dual-purpose sire. The National Stud was keen to stand him and it looks a good fit."
Flag Of Honour won the Irish St Leger (G1), as well as the Irish St Leger Trial (G3), the Curragh Cup (G2) and the Eyrefield Stakes (G3). He is standing at a fee of £4,500
Panmolle (Lot
1480) is carrying her maiden pregnancy to Frankel. She is a grand-daughter of Zenda, and so related to Kingman, Oasis Dream, Wemyss Bight, Beat Hollow and Newbya.
Zulema (Lot
1482) is in-foal to Cmacho. She is out of Park Hill Stakes (G2) winner Eva Luna and is half-sister to the St Leger (G1) and Racing Post Trophy (G1) winner Brian Boru, Group 2 winners Sea Moon and Moon Search, and the Listed winner and Group-producing mare Kitty O'Shea.
It is also the family of the champion three-year-old Workforce.
(15:47)
Lot 1475:
at this sale last year John Berry purchased Patsy Boyne at 300,000gns for client Eric Chen. Last week, the subsequent foal by Kingman sold for exactly the same amount, bought by Wallhouse Slu (Lot 928).
Berry will be hoping the plan works a second year having bought Aspirer from the Juddmonte draft for 160,000gns.
"It is the same plan – the mare will foal here and then be exported to Australia," said Berry. "She is on an early-enough cover that she could foal in February and then be weaned in the early summer ahead of travelling, or she could be covered in Europe on southern hemisphere time before travelling."
Of the mare Berry continued: "What is there not to like about her page? She is by Frankel and out of a Classic winner in Nebraska Tornado.
"She was a good winner herself in France and is a beautiful mare."
(15:08)
Lot 1455:
bloodstock agent Cathy Grassick got the result she was after when purchasing Well Yes for 400,000gns.
As Grassick reported, purchasing the daughter of Galileo had been a goal for herself and her client Yvonnes Jacques for some time.
"We were underbidders on the mare as a yearling," said Grassick. "We missed her then, but she was a beautiful yearling with a great walk and she has kept all of those attributes.
"She has a top pedigree, and is a half-sister to one of the best fillies around in Just The Judge and, hopefully, Well Yes has a big future for Carisbrooke Stud."
Jacques could not be here today, but it has been a busy few days for Carisbrooke Stud – last week the farm sold its Lope De Vega colt out of Karisma for 260,000gns to Yeomanstown Stud (Lot 922).
The mare is carrying to Zoffany, but Grassick added there are no plans as yet for Well Yes's next sire partner.
(14:43)
Lot 1454:
the first in from West Blagdon leads to some heated bidding and it was the Elwick Stud team that outlasted Matt Coleman at 440,000gns.
The four-year-old mare Stream Song (Mastercraftsman), who was bred and raced by George Strawbridge, is the winner of a race at both two and three. She was sold in-foal today to the late Roaring Lion, one of just eight catalogued here by the son of Kitten's Joy.
Stream Song is out of the Group 1 winner Montare (Montjeu) and is a half-sister to Journey, winner of the British Champions Fillies/Mare Stakes (G1), and the multiple Listed placed Travelling Man,
The successful buying team consisted of Peter Nolan with Nick and Geoff Turnbull of Elwick, alongside Gary Moore, stud manager at Elwick.
"She is to be a foundation mare for Elwick," said Nolan. "We hadn't really priced her before we came into the ring, but Geoff is a hard man to beat when he wants something! She has a great pedigree and will be going to Mondialiste in the spring."
Moore added: "She is carrying to Roaring Lion – we don't know whether it is a colt of a filly. There are no plans as yet – the foal might come back here for resale, or might be kept to race. Who knows he could be another stallion for the farm!"
Stream Song will join a broodmare band of around 45 at Elwick.
Mondialiste, a dual Grade 1 winner by Galileo, had his first foals this year. Those offered at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale last week averaged 35,500gns.
(14:29)
Lot 1448:

Frima is in-foal to Aclaim.
(14:05)
Lot 1430:
bought for 45,000gns at this sale last year, Scotesia, the daughter of Galileo, produces a quick and profitable turnaround selling today for 105,000gns. She was sold by Keith Harte Thoroughbreds and bought by MAB Agency.
Since last December the 2015-born mare has gained a February pregnancy to Muhaarar, while relation Regal Reality (Intello) won the Brigadier Gerard Stakes (G3) in May and was placed third in the Eclipse Stakes (G1) in July.

Chairman’s Statement
At the conclusion of the 2019 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;
“A sale average of almost 45,000gns, second only to last year’s wide-margin record, combined with an improved clearance rate and turnover well in excess of any other European foal sale, are all positive indicators, yet again reinforcing the status of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale as the premier fixture of its kind in Europe.
“Demand for quality British, Irish, French and German foals has been unrelenting, and while we should continue to recognise the selective nature of the current market, we have had more than 70 foals selling for 100,000gns or more this week, as well as an impressive 14 foals breaking the 300,000gns mark and international buyers making a significant impact at all levels of the market.
"Following on from their prolific buying at Books 1 and 2 of our October Yearling Sales, it was particularly encouraging to see American buyers continuing to make their presence felt alongside buyers from throughout Europe, the Gulf region and Japan, all of whom have also made a major contribution to this week’s sale.
“While the Tattersalls December Foal Sale has enjoyed a spectacular year of racecourse achievement in the shape of Classic and Group 1 winners Blue Point, Magna Grecia, Phoenix Of Spain and Star Catcher, it is, of course primarily the domain of the pinhookers who as ever have worked tirelessly throughout the sale.
"Their commitment to the Tattersalls December Foal Sale is driven by consistent success and we very much look forward to seeing their expertise and judgement being handsomely rewarded at next year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where so many of their purchases will reappear.
“In the meantime we look forward to welcoming buyers from all over the world to the Tattersalls December Mares Sale which begins on Monday and is the annual showcase for the very best breeding stock to be found in Europe."
