Lot 1679: "This is obviously a unique moment in thoroughbred breeding that an operation of this size is descaling so significantly, and three years ago a close-sister to Taghrooda would never ever have come onto the market as a young unproven maiden filly," said Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock after spending 250,000gns on Mohjatty, a Shadwell Stud-consigned Awtaad three-quarters sister to Taghrooda.

By Sea The Stars, Taghrooda was the champion three-year-old filly of Europe in 2014 and winner of the Oaks Stakes (G1), the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and runner-up in the Yorkshire Oaks (G1) and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Stakes (G1).

Brown added: "Mohjatty is gorgeous and is a three-quarters sister to a champion. She is for Overbury Stud and as part of an upgrade of the broodmare band." (13:17)

Lot 1660: Tiempo Vuela, a Lope De Vega mare and the winner of one race as a two-year-old, bred by Hascombe & Valiant Stud Ltd and sold by the farm today, is heading to Ireland and the Egan family's Corduff Stud.

Corduff's Henrietta Egan was in charge of bidding and said: "She is a lovely mare, we are thrilled to get her. She is in foal to a proper stallion and it is a real black-type family."

Tiempo Vuela is out of the Listed winner Tempest Fugit (High Chaparral), a half-sister to Total Gallery (Namid), winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye (G1) and a champion sprinter, and a full-sister to Lady Darshaan, runner-up in the Fillies' Mile (G1) and third in the Cherry Hinton Stakes (G2).

Under the third dam are two Group 1 winners, Ambivalent, winner of the Pretty Polly Stakes (G1), and her daughter Teona, winner of the Prix Vermeille (G1), and the Group 1 third- placed Al Waffi. (12:26)

Lot 1629: Deft, the Dubawi half-sister to Talent, winner of the Oaks (G1), runner-up in the St Leger (G1), third in the British Champions Filly /Mare Stakes (G1) and dam of the Group 2 winner and the Group 1-placed Ambition, also by Dubawi, is sold for 240,000gns to Meridian International.

Deft was sold by breeder Ashbrittle Stud, owned in training by breeders James Rowsell and Mark Dixon. She is carrying her first pregnancy to Pinatubo, covered on March 4th. (11:59)

Lot 1628: in the early stages of this week's biggest session at the December Mares Sale, the good race filly Natalie's Joy (Lope De Vega), two-year-old winner of the Rose Bowl Stakes (L), is the first to 300,000gns bought by Plantation Stud from consignor Mount Coote Stud.

She is an October Book 2 graduate, bought in 2017 by Mark Johnston Racing for 35,000gns from breeder Moyns Park Estate & Stud Ltd. and Trickledown Stud.

She was owned initially in training by Simon Chappell, Merriebelle Stable joining him ahead of her run at Royal Ascot when she finished seventh in the Chesham Stakes (L)

Lot 1568: "I loved her run at Newbury [in the Fred Darling] hopefully she can come back to that form, she got beaten a head and her victor went on to to be a true Group 1 filly, it is all about her form," said Stephen Hillen after spending 300,000gns on Statement (Lawman).

"I don't who will train her, but she will stay in the UK. She is for myself and my wife, I am quite excited about her. She was bred by Ballylinch, a brilliant nursery."

Of Lawman, sire of this filly, he added: "I think he is going to be a tremendous broodmare sire."

Trained by Martyn Meade, Statement has run nine times, won once and finished placed on four occasions. She won her maiden at Newbury at the end of her two-year-old career before finishing second on her first three-year-old start in the Fred Darling Stakes (G3) to the subsequent three-time Group 1 winner, Alcohol Free.

She also finished third in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes (G3).

"She is a beautiful mare," said Warren. "Arrowfield is a big, successful operation and she will be a marvellous mare for one of their many stallions."

When asked why this mare in particular was targeted for export Down Under, Warren said: "She is from one of the best families, it is pretty hard to beat, and the stud is trying to introduce these sort of pedigrees into Australia for more diversity.

"It is a big pedigree, and you can't get a bigger page than this. Arrowfield is looking for something to stretch out, more Classic and less speed orientated. Arrowfield is a Classic organisation it doesn't want to be caught up in the narrow trend dominated by speed; she will offer that diversity. "

He added: "She will ship soon and will hopefully be covered on September 1st."

Final Thought is out of the Street Cry mare Anjaz, a four-time winner in the US, and a grand-daughter of Playful Act (Sadler's Wells), an English champion two-year-old filly in 2004, winner of the Fillies Mile (G1), the Lancashire Oaks (G2) and the May Hill Stakes (G2). Lot 1503: the Kodiac three-year-old filly Lady Hayes boasts Group 2 placed form to her name, but that could be upgraded to winning form next year.

"She is a lovely physical, she has got black-type, but she will probably continue racing," said Mags O'Toole of the filly who has been placed third in Gillies Fillies' Stakes (L) since the catalogue was published.

Lady Hayes, who was trained by Roger Varian for owner George Bolton, is the most expensive filly sold so far today, bought for a winning bid of 310,000gns.

Her dam Andry Brusselles (Hurricane Run) is a black-type winner as is her grand-dam Dont Dili Dali (Dansili). (18:42)

Lot 1483: Camphor is bought by Amanda Skiffington, who was standing with John O'Connor of Ballylinch Stud, for 250,000gns.

The daughter of Camelot, a half-sister to the Group 3 winner and multiple stakes placed Max Vega (Lope De Vega), is the winner of three races, and herself six-time placed in stakes races. In total she ran 24 times and was Timeform rated 98 at her best.

"She is for a client, who is a share holder in Lope De Vega and she will go to him next spring," said O'Connor. "I liked her as a race filly, she was a very good consistent filly, she turned up regularly in good stakes races and I am a fan of runners. I like Camelot as a broodmare sire and her dam has already bred Max Vega – we know that the cross works so it is something we can work on. She will come back to Ballylinch."

She was sold by Baroda Stud having been trained by Jessica Harrington for owner OTI Racing. (17:54)

Lot 1464: Endless Joy, by Showcasing and out of Funny Enough (Dansili), goes to Gerard Larrieu's Chantilly Bloodstock Agency for 270,000gns.

The mare, offered in-foal to Blue Point, is a half-sister to Laugh A Minute (Mayson) the winner of four races, including the Listed Cork Stakes. He has also been placed 14 times, six times in stakes races, and twice since the catalogue was published.

The extended family features this year's July Cup (G1) and Commonwealth Cup (G1) runner-up Dragon Symbol. He is trained, like Endless Joy, third placed in the Firth Of Clyde Stakes (G3), by Archie Watson. (17:20)

Lot 1469: Model Guest, by Showcasing and in-foal to Kingman, goes to Eddie O'Leary, signed for by Margaret O'Toole at 330,000gns. As a two-year-old she finished third Sweet Solera Stakes (G3), and achieved a career high mark of 96. She won once and was placed 15 times. She was consigned today by The Castlebridge Consignment.

"She’ll come back to Ireland and if she produces something like herself we’ll be ok. She’s a beautiful mare and there are some very good crops coming through for Kingman," said O'Leary. (17:09)

Lot 1450: Taraateel (Oasis Dream) from the Shadwell draft is bought by Susan Hearn of Mascalls Stud, breeder of this year's Ascot Gold Cup (G1) winner Subjectivist and Goodwood Cup (G1) third placed Sir Ron Priestley.

Out of the Group 3 winner Farmah, and a grand-daughter of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (G1) winner Torrestrella (Orpen), Taraateel cost her new connections 230,000gns.

"I have spent too much money!" rued Hearn. "But, hopefully, I have bought a really nice mare. I am happy, it is a lovely family and obviously Oasis Dream as a broodmare sire is very attractive.

"I know what is going in a bit further down in the family – Francois Rohaut, he trains for me in France, tells me he thinks a lot of two of Farmah's progeny, particularly her two-year-old."

Named Zawaaya, the two-year-old has run twice in France and won on her second start at Deauville. She is an Oasis Dream full-sister to Taraateel. There is also a 2020 filly by Frankel out of Farmah.

"It is helpful to have bit of inside information,"added Hearn, who said: "I don't know who Taraateel will be going to, but I will do my best to find something nice for her."

Reckoning, the dam of Sir Ron Priestley and this year's Ascot Gold Cup (G1) winner Subjectivist, was bought by Mascalls Stud at this sale in 2014 for 160,000gns from Mountain View Stud. (16:46)

Lot 1426: Sun Tide, the Siyouni daughter of the Listed winner Midsummer (Zamindar), a half-sister to the six-time Group 1 winner and champion Midday, dam of black-type winners Midterm and Mori, is bought by Charlie Vigors of Hillwood Stud, who was standing on the back stairs. He signed on behalf of Notting Hill Bloodstock at 400,000gns.

"She is for a new client, coming to us and the produce will be sold on. It is the client's first horse, they are looking to develop a boutique broodmare band, no better family to buy into," explained Vigors. "The client is British-based and they might race a filly, but the mare has been bought on a commercial basis, plans are fluid. It is an exciting family keen to get into and it is a nice commercial cover if they wish to sell."

Of the mare, Vigors added: "She is a very attractive mare, she is a neat mare so there will be plenty of options for her. There are some on the list for tomorrow, but we will speak, but that is it for today."

She was sold in-foal to Kameko (Kitten's Joy), winner of the 2,000 Guineas (G1) and the Futurity Stakes (G1). (15:55)

Lot 1425: Tacitly, the winning Dubawi daughter of Timepiece, successful in the Falmounth Stakes (G1), is bought by Horse France for 375,000gns

She was sold carrying to the champion sire and Juddmonte stallion Frankel on a February 23rd cover, one of only six mares catalogued this week in-foal to the son of Galileo, and just one of two by Dubawi in addition to Lot 1783.

"She is for a partnership between Ecurie des Monceaux and a client of Robert Nataf's," said Henri Bozo of Ecurie des Monceaux.

Nataf added of the reasons for her purchase: "The pedigree speaks for itself, and she is in-foal to the right stallion. It was not a brain scratcher!"

"And her price was within where we wanted to play," said Bozo, adding: "We have to discuss plans for her, but she could be one for Wootton Bassett."

Timepiece is a half-sister to the Group 1 winner Passage Of Time, dam of the Group 2 winner and exciting National Stud stallion Time Test. It is also the family of the champion Twice Over, and the two-time Group 1 winner All At Sea. (15:50)

Lot 1418: Crimson Rock, the Fastnet Rock half-sister to the champion three-year-old filly and a four-time Group 1 winner Peeping Fawn (Danehill), dam of the Fillies' Mile runner-up September (Deep Impact), and to Thewayyouare, winner of the Criterium International (G1), is bought by Northern Farm of Japan.

The farm's representative Shingo Hashimoto is at Tattersalls, who signed for Katsumi Yoshida at 450,000gns, was in charge of bidding and explained the reasoning behind the purchase.

"We have not decided yet whether or not she will go straight to Japan, hopefully she will suit the sons of Deep Impact on the farm, but at this moment we do not have any plans," said Hashimoto. "Of course, this mare line is one of the best, that was very attractive, and Fastnet Rock is going well in Japan."

Hashimoto added that his travel to the UK via the sales in the US went well, but he is facing new isolation rules when he returns to Japan with time to be spent in a hotel and then at home.

Underbidders included James Wigan of London Thoroughbred Services and Greg Goodman of the Lexington-based Mt Brilliant Farm. (15:31)

Lot 1403: Show Me Off, an eight-year-old mare by Showcasing, is bought by Timmy Hillman for 140,000gns. She is a dam of one winner – American Lady, also placed at Listed class and finished fourth in the Group 3 Naas Juvenile Sprint Stakes (G3).

"She is a lovely mare, has a good cover and some good stock coming through," said Hillman, who bought the mare for the family farm, Castledillon Stud.

The mare's 2020 foal is a colt by Australia, while her 2021 colt is by Kodiac.

She is a half-sister to the Group 2, Group 3 and Listed winner Lovelace. Her third dam is the influential mare Stinging Nettle, ancestress of Stroll, Patrol, Maid For The Hills, Lady In Waiting and Savannah Bay. (15:03)

Lot 1387: Nooramunga, a Turtle Bow mare placed at Listed level in France, sold in-foal on a March 6th cover to the popular first-season sire Zarak, the only mare due to be offered this week in-foal to the son of Dubawi, is bought by Jill Lamb Bloodstock for 270,000gns.

"She is for Newsells," said Jill Lamb. "She is in-foal to a very exciting young stallion and we are excited to get her. She has a lot of quality, she is a black-type Siyouni mare and it is an exciting thing to have.

"We are selling a few and we are looking to replace them, unfortunately they all come in the wrong order, but we wanted to get one under the belt today. A lot depends what happens tomorrow, how we proceed, but obviously she is quite late and so Graham [Smith-Bernal] said we have got to be brave before she goes through.

"He is a horse that 12 months ago, people said 'Zarak?', now everyone must have one! I have not seen him in the flesh, but I watched some videos of him this morning with Tom Blain and he is a beautiful horse – he looks in the mould of Time Test to me. He looks to have lots of quality and is a beautifully bred horse."

Consignor Tom Blain added: "She is a lovely mare, owned and bred and raced by Berend Van Dalfsen. She was a good race filly, is in-foal to Zarak who is up and coming, by Siyouni and from a family that Berend has bred. It is a great result for him, she is a lovely mare and she warranted a good price."

Of the connection with Van Dalfsen's horses, Blain said: "She has been with us for six weeks, we prepped her. We know the pedigree well as we have boarded the family for a long time for foaling."

Tech entrepreneur and businessman and racehorse owner Smith-Bernal purchased Newsells Park Stud this summer from Andreas Jacobs. The Newsells Park mare due to sell late in this week's second session, one of 21 catalogued lots, Lamb was alluding to the prospective and exciting sale tomorrow of Waldlied, the New Approach half-sister to the champion and four-time Group 1 winner, successful in the 2019 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and now a Ballylinch Stud-based stallion, Waldgeist (Lot 1839) (14:16)

Lot 1333: Owenstown Stud enjoyed a good December Yearling Sale last week, with four yearlings sold and a top-price of 105,000gns given by MC Bloodstock for the farm's Kodiac colt out of Aphrodite's Angel (Lot 168)

The farm's John Tuthill reinvested 100,000gns of the proceeds into Quickstep Lady, a grand-daughter of the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) winner Lochangel, a sister to Lochsong, the champion English and European older mare of 1993 and 1994, also a winner of the Nunthorpe, twice a winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye (G1) and of Royal Ascot's King's Stand Stakes (G2).

Quickstep Lady was consigned today by Keith Harte on behalf of Jeff Smith's Littleton Stud, breeder of most of the horses on this pedigree page. The Australia filly is the winner of £46,477 and two races at three and four. She is a half-sister to the two Sceptre Stakes (G3) winners, Dancing Star (Aqlaam) and Foxtrot Lady (Foxwedge). (12:31)

Lot 1318: Dusty Dream, bred by The Queen out of the Cherry Hinton Stakes (G2) winner Memory, is bought by Luca and Sara Cumani for 180,000gns from the The Royal Studs.

"She has been selected and bought for a client to come back to Fittocks – we are hoping to give the farm a Royal touch!" laughed the couple. "It is a beautiful pedigree, and although Memory has a had a lot of colts, she has a 2020 filly by Dubawi and a 2021 filly by Night Of Thunder, we will hope both can do something. Dusty Dream is in-foal to Showcasing on an early cover, which is a positive, and we need to discuss future covering plans with our client."

Dusty Dream is a half-sister to three black-type winners, Call To Mind (Galileo), Grade 2 winner of the Belmont Gold Cup Invitational and placed in three Group races in Europe, Learn By Heart (Frankel), a Grade 3 winner in Scandinavia, and Recorder (Galileo). He won the Acomb Stakes (G3) and is at stud at Montfort et Preaux in France, about to enter his fifth covering season. (11:33)

Lot 1298: the first mare or filly sold this week by the new champion sire Frankel makes 135,000gns, the unraced filly Shomooly is bought by De Burgh Equine.

She is out of the Listed-placed mare Riqa (Dubawi) and is a half-sister to three winners, including Tantheem, winner of the Petit Couvert (G3), the Prix de Meautry (G3) and the Prix de Cabourg (G3). the family stretches to Allez Les trois, dam of Anabaa Blue, winner of the Prix du Jockey Club (G1).

Tanaaghom is a Dubawi half-sister to Antarah, an October debut two-year-old winner by Sea The Stars, trained by John and Thady Gosden. His win came at Newcastle where so Gosden now starts so many of his young horses, and the Racing Post in-racing comments reported " kept on strongly and went clear final 110yds, won going away, impressive".

They are both out of the Group 3-placed Adool (Teofilo), a daughter of the Nell Gwyn (G3) winner Khulood and a grand-daughter of Elle Seule, ancestress of the champion Mehthaaf, new sire Bangkok, and sires Ribchester, Elnadim, Mondialiste and Intello.

Masar has had 17 lots sell for an average price of 32,824gns, a median of 26,000gns and a top price of 110,000gns. (16:13)

Lot 1204 and Lot 1207: both by Time Test, the first, a filly from Willie Carson's Minster Stud, while the second is colt from Kirtlington Park Stud.

The filly is out of the Oasis Dream mare Hazy Dancer, a daughter of Shadow Dancing, a Listed winner and multiple Group race placed including when second in the Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) and third in the Oaks (G1).

The colt is out of the Fuisse mare Salome, a grand-daughter of Silvermine, winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (G1) and three-times Group 1 placed. She was dam of Sillery, winner of the Prix Jane Prat and also three-time Group 1 placed.

The filly made 35,000gns purchased by Paula Flannery, while the colt fetched 46,000gns, bought by Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock / Aughamore Stud.

The sire is averaging 33,400gns for 25 lots sold with a filly (Lot 1228) a colt (Lot 1254) left to sell. (15:37)

Lot 1173: the financial result of the sale goes to Oakshott Bloodstock – Feliciana (Lope De Vega) was bought at the 2019 December Mares Sale by Charlie Oakshott for just 1,000gns, today he sells her first foal by first-season sire sensation Ardad for 64,000gns to Tally-Ho Stud.

"She is a gorgeous mare, she is my sort of mare, she is basically three big circles and she has got a lovely easy walk, she is very correct, I don't know how I managed to buy her for 1,000gns," recalls a still-amazed Oakshott. "I was sitting in the ring, watching her going round and thought she was lovely.

"When she didn't sell for 2,000gns, I thought 'Hang on!' So I went to the box and offered a 1,000gns, and the rest is history. She has lovely back pedigree, there is a lot going on under her own dam and, if she can produce foals like that, who knows what she could do!"

Feliciana was offered then not in-foal, but she had been covered in May 2019 by Zoustar.

Oakshott had a breeding right to Ardad hence the decision to send his new mare to the new sire in 2020.

"I had a breeding right, that I have now sold, and he is the result," explained the breeder. "He has just been a lovely, very straightforward colt from day one, I have loved him all the way and I think he is very typical of the sire's stock – since he has been here, if he was not out showing, he was horizontal and asleep."

Oakshoot continued: "Some great people have bought him, I sure they will do very well out of him and that would make me very happy! She is not a mare I am going to be moving on, she is in-foal to Land Force on a very early cover and I will have to make up mind as regards next year." (14:32)

Lot 1136: "He is for Clipper Logistics as a racing prospect, he will be for the grey colours," said Joe Foley, all smiles as the Clipper Logistics part-owned Dunvegan won the 12.30 at Fairyhouse, a 2m Grade B handicap chase, jockey Bryan Cooper ringing for a successful post-race debrief while we were chatting over Foley's Tattersalls purchase of this Expert Eye colt.

"He was bred by the Wardalls, very good breeders," said Foley. "We have supported the sire well in his first years, we have got some very nice yearlings to go into training by him, we are a fan of the sire, he was a very good racehorse from a very good sire line.

"He is a lovely well-developed foal, he looks like Prohibit [full-brother to the mare], freakishly like him, Oasis Dream mares are very good, I like his pedigree, I have seen all the foals out of the mare over the years and he is the best one out of her. Let's hope he can prove that on the track. I was keen to buy one by Expert Eye this week, and he was my pick."

The colt is out of Respondez (Oasis Dream), placed in France and the dam of three winners from five runners, rated 85, 81 and 79. She was bought by Alvediston Stud for 75,000gns at December Mares Sale in 2011 from the Juddmonte draft. (13:26)

Lot 1121: the Dark Angel filly bred by the Fools Gold partnership is bought for 70,000gns by Simon Chappell, buying out his breeding partner Dean Fielding.

"She has been a lovely foal to deal with, very correct, strong and solid and the image of her Mum, she is just a 'mini me', reported Kate Sigsworth of West Moor Stud. "She is obviously young for this sale, which is the reason why I was keen to sell her on the Saturday rather than the Friday. It is a lovely page, the mare Thesme was very quick and this foal looked quick, too, even though she was only a May foal. She had a great backside on her!"

Sigsworth explained the background to the mare.

"The Fools Gold partnership owned the mare in training, she was bought as a yearling by Nigel Tinkler. She was a little star, the owners are close to York and she loved the track there – she won three times and was fifth in the Nunthorpe, she was very fast. The mare isn't in-foal now, but she is pencilled into go Blue Point next spring. We decided Dark Angel would be good cover – he is a good cross over Exceed And Excel, and physically he would suit her."

The cross has produced the Group 2 winner Birchwood, and the Listed winner Dark Liberty. (13:09)

Lot 1104: offered by Rosyground Stud for breeder David Powell's Catridge Farm Stud, this son of Time Test maintains the sire's run of form – the colt fetches 52,000gns, bought by Yeomanstown Stud.

The mare Si Belle (Dalakhani) was bought by Catridge at the 2010 December Mares' Sale in 2010 for 50,000gns from Lanwades Stud. She has bred four winners, headed by The Gill Brothers (Mukhadram), a dual winner and Timeform rated 91.

The colt's great grand-dam Gorgeous (Slew O'Gold) was a three-time Grade 1 winner in the US. (12:07)

Lot 1084: after yesterday's fantastic sale ring result with the Dubawi ex Madonna Dell'Orto (Lot 965), sold for 1,800,000gns, Genesis Green Stud strikes again, this time selling the son of Time Test for 67,000gns.

This colt is bought by Willie Browne, signing as Oaks Farm Stables, and the pinhooker said: "I am very happy to get him. Mark liked him yesterday and I saw him this morning, I thought he was a very good horse. He will go to Mark's now. I keep the Irish ones and he keeps the British ones. We have bought six in Ireland and six here, we are about there now – the kitty is empty!"

Of Time Test, Browne added: "There is a lot of hype about the stallion, but he had a good back end to the season and he should progress."

After yesterday's million lot sale, Michael Swinburn was back in the bidders' area to watch this colt sell.

"He is a lovely horse, I bought the mare Stay Privately privately from Andrew Balding, she did not sell in the ring so I went to see her and a beautiful walker," he recalled. "I have some of the Time Charter family at home and they have thrown some belters. She is Acclamation again and I thought the Dubawi horse would suit, help shorten up – we have got a nice model and it is a first foal. She is in-foal to Farhh. For next year, I wouldn't mind a Kodiac horse on top of Acclamation or even a Sadler's Wells line stallion, they have got such good heads, but we will see – decision not made!"

"I can't believe the congratulations and good will we have had, but everyone is in the same canoe – look we are all here on a wet December day trying to do the same thing! And everyone has been so happy for us, Jackie Ward Ramos, who I worked for out in the US and was a great teacher and is now 90-year-old, even she was on the phone this morning!

"Look it is the same when it is the other way round – when any of the others get a result we are chuffed to bits for them. We all know how you come up here and you can miss by tiny margins." (11:35)

Lot 1070: the Bated Breath filly is bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 67,000gns from Clearwater Stud.

She is out of the winning Oasis Dream mare Adore, who was purchased by Jeremy Brummitt from Cheveley Park Stud for Clearwater at the 2016 December Mares Sale. She cost 78,000gns.

She has produced three winners from three runners, including the 90-rated Meaningful Vote, who is now running in Hong Kong. She is out of the Listed winner Fantasize (Groom Dancer), a half-sister to the black-type winners Dazzle, Baschar, and Hypnotize, the dam of the champion Hooray, as well as the placed Miswaki Belle, dam of the champion older mare Danehurst.

"I love Oasis Dream mares," said purchaser Richard Brown. "She has been bought for a syndicate to resell. Bated Breath has been going well in the US, and we bought with an eye on the US market, as a yearling she might appeal to US purchasers in next year's Book 1." (11:00)

Lot 1064: the Nathaniel filly offered by The National Stud makes 62,000gns, bought by Adrian Nicoll from breeder Mark Tompkins's Dullingham Park Stud & Sarabex.

"She is for resale next year, she is a very good model, she has a pedigree, and Nathaniel is very good sire of fillies. She is for a partnership to go to Ireland," said Nicoll.

The filly is out of the Listed Galtres winner Brushing (Medicean), and she was trained and bred by Tompkins. She reached a career high of 102 and comes from the Moyglare Stud family of Token Gesture and Relaxed Gesture. She is dam of one winner from one runner.

"It is great for Mark, he is a big supporter of ours. We are big fans of Nathaniel as well," said Tim Lane, manager of The National Stud. (10:57)

Lot 998: Cooper gets better luck this time, successfully purchasing this Sea The Stars filly out of Incharge, sold by Brightwalton Stud, bred in a foal share with Sunderland Holding Inc. The filly cost 350,000gns and was signed for by BBA Ireland.

"She has been bought as a long term breeding prospect and will eventually be going to trainer Ralph Beckett," explained Cooper. "We obviously missed the last one, but this one was coming along right behind – hopefully this one will be the fastest!"

He added: " The top end fillies are the Sea The Stars and the Frankels, so that is why we ended up bidding on two by the stallion. She is for David and Vimy Aykroyd and she will go from here to Copgrove Hall Stud."

He explained why the couple were keen to buy a foal rather than a yearling as a racing prospect.

"If you buy a yearling the horse goes straight to the trainer or the breaking yard, so the owner never really gets to know the horse," said Cooper. "The Aykroyds live next door to Copgrove so they can spend a year getting to know the horse before she goes into training. They can get to know the individual and they will spoil her rotten!"

Incharge was bought for Brightwalton Stud by Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman for 200,000gns as a yearling in Book 1 in 2017. She ran once but was retired after injury.

She is a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner and five-time Group 1 runner-up Poet's Word and to the Group 3 winner Malabar, and was purchased from Woodcote Stud. Woodcote Stud bought the filly's third dam Inchyre from Hascombe & Valiant Stud for 260,000gns at the December Mares' Sale in 2009. (18:17)

Lot 988 and Lot 989: Blandford Bloodstock, operating for Anthony Oppenheimer, buys out the partners in this filly by Sea The Stars, bred by Hascombe & Valiant Stud & Sunderland. Patrick Cooper was underbidder.

He also does the same with Lot 989, a Dubawi filly out of Bizzarria (Lemon Drop Kid), a half-sister to Star Catcher (Sea The Stars), winner of the British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes (G1), the Irish Oaks (G1), the Prix Vermielle (G1) and the Ribblesdale Stakes (G2), to Cannock Chase, winner of the Canadian International Stakes 9G1) and Pisco Sour, who was a Group 2 winner.

"I have bought out the foal share," said Oppenheimer of the Sea filly out of Frankellina, runner-up in the Musidora Stakes (G3) and third in the Lyric Stakes (L).

The family traces to the long-nurtured farm pedigree of Rebecca Sharp and her descendants. (17:56)

Lot 966: the daughter of Sea The Stars out of the Monsun mare Sahel is sold by Harriet Loder's Marwell Park for 350,000gns. She was bought by Andreas Jacobs of Gestut Fahrhof.

Sahel comes from one of the leading German families and is an own-sister to Schiaparelli, Salve Regina, Samum and to Sanwa, the dam of the European champion three-year-old and exciting sire, Sea The Moon.

Loder explains how she came to buy Sahel.

"I went to buy this mare in France and she was withdrawn so I bought her privately, and she was not in-foal. I love German pedigrees and especially the German mares, they are tough and there is such a high standard of breeding and you can breed them to anything.

"I couldn't afford to send her to Sea The Stars so I am really thankful that they have offered me foal shares to him. I sold the full-sister last year to Etreham for 200,000gns, Andreas Jacobs did try that filly, and did not get her. So he came and to see this filly and I am delighted he has got her because you could not ask for a better home for a filly that you have bred."

Loder was not too concerned that Sahel was an older mare when she purchased her in 2018.

"As a young breeder it is very difficult to get into these big pedigrees, so I took a chance on her. I knew the family so well, and I jumped on the 'Sea The Moon bandwagon'. Anyway, it is still an active pedigree – since I have bought Sahel, Soudania started racing and has picked up the Group 3 so there have been some updates.

"Sahel is back in-foal to Sea The Stars carrying a colt and he will probably come here next year. I tend to bring a lot of my horses to the sales as foals and sent a price in my head, if they don't reach that I will represent them as yearlings. However, with a filly like that who is an 'end user filly', I don't think there is that much of a difference in price if I had kept her as a yearling." (17:54)
