Lot 2A:
Dubai-based trainer Satish Seemar goes to 210,000gns for the wildcard entry. The colt by Saxon Warrior is the first by the sire, who has had one winner in France already, to sell at a European two-year-old breeze-up sale.
The February-born colt, a first foal out of the Sea The Stars mare Kinaesthesia, a daughter of the Listed winner and Sweet Solera Stakes (G3) third Kinetica, was consigned by Johnny Collins's Brown Island Stables.
The colt will be travelling to Dubai shortly with a view to racing in November to take advantage of the growing juvenile programme in Dubai. He will ship straight to Dubai with a batch of two other horses.
"He was early in and we were happy to find one at the beginning of the sale,"said Seemar, adding: "One of our regular clients in Dubai has a liking for the Japanese breeding so it was perfect match. Visually this horse was very impressive, he passed the vet so he is a good purchase, but I knew with action the horse was getting we would have to pay a premium.
"He will acclimatise and will be ready to race in November or December. We have ben working hard at getting breeze-up horses for the last six or so years, if you don't bring in new blood then the racing programme never improves."
Of his opinion as to whether this colt will be a type to suit the Dirt racing programme in Dubai, Seemar said: "Two-year-olds have not started anywhere so I don't think there are preconceived ideas in the head that they like this or that."

Tattersalls 2021 Craven Sale graduate wins the Group 3 Nell Gwyn:
Cachet, who was a 60,000gns Highclere Agency purchase at the Craven Sale last year, galloped to a two and a half length victory in the Group 3 7f Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket today. The three-year-old filly, who finished third in the Fillies' Mile (G1) and second in the Rockfel Stakes (G2) last season, is the first Group race winner for her sire Aclaim (Acclamation), who stands at the neighbouring National Stud.
She was bred and breezed by John Bourke's Hyde Park Stud, and Bourke is back in Newmarket with four breeze-up prospects for this week's Craven Sales, all due to sell in the Day 2 session.
"She has always been a queen," says Bourke of Cachet. "Her trainer George Boughey has done an unbelievable job, I also have to thank Tattersalls for taking her for the Craven Sale last year and Jake Warren for buying her."
Bourke purchased Cachet's dam Poyle Sophie for just 3,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale 2018.
"Teofilo is a great broodmare sire and I bought the mare really on the strength of him and the fact that she was carrying to Aclaim," says Bourke. "She always gets belting foals and they have all been fillies so far. She had a Cotai Glory last year, who I had entered to sell as a foal but withdrew on the strength of Cachet. Poyle Sophie is currently in-foal to Mehmas."
Bourke had previously offered Cachet as yearling at the Tattersalls Ascot September Sale and bought her back for 14,000gns.
She is now a 20/1 chance for the 1,000 Guineas on Sunday, May 1.

Chairman's Statement:
At the conclusion of the 2022 Tattersalls February Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;
“It is good to have made a positive start to 2022. Last year’s Tattersalls February Sale was conducted under particularly trying circumstances so significant increases in all the key indicators were to be expected, but nevertheless for this year’s February Sale to produce a record median, turnover and average bettered only once, and a clearance rate of 85% is a clear indication of a robust market.
“The quality consignments from Godolphin and Shadwell Estates have again drawn widespread international participation and it is a tribute to the enduring appeal of stock from these two outstanding operations that all of the top ten highest prices at the sale were owned or bred by either Shadwell or Godolphin.
“The obvious highlight of the past two days was the 175,000gns Shadwell-bred Night of Thunder yearling out of Elshaadin, who was the second highest priced yearling ever sold at the February Sale, but as is so often the case at Tattersalls sales of this nature, the remarkable diversity of the buyers has been the outstanding feature.
"Buyers from throughout Europe, the Gulf region and further afield have all made a significant contribution, either in person or bidding online, and the domestic demand has also been a source of encouragement for the wider industry as we look forward to a year of trading hopefully largely unencumbered by the challenges which we have all endured over the past two years."

Lot 435:
the Group 3-placed Wuqood (Dubawi) consigned by Barton Sales for Shadwell Estate is sold for a session top price of 170,000gns. The four-year-old colt is joining the draft of horses heading to Saudi Arabia - he is another purchase by Najd Stud.
"He goes to Saudi. I think this horse has a small issue about his wind, but we think, inshallah, he might improve on the Dirt surface and also for castration. He will go to the leading trainer Abdullah Mishref Al-Kahtani," said Saud al Qahtani.
Trained by Dermot Weld for Sheikh Hamdan, Wuqood finished second in the 1m1f Eyrefield Stakes (G3) in October 2020 and then picked up Listed placed form in the 1m2f Trigo Stakes last October. He is rated 102.
He hails from the same pedigree of Saddler's Rock, Gamut, and Multicoloured as Lot
276 and is out of the Group 2 winner and Oaks runner-up Tarfasha (Teofilo).
(16:29)
Lot 425:
"This is the one we really came for," said Andre Pereira after going to 78,000gns for Habit Rouge, a gelding by Helmet sold by Marco Botti's Prestige Place Stables.
"He is a nice horse, he should act on the Dirt surface and he gets a mile to 1m2f. We hope he will be good enough for the bigger races in Saudi."
Habit Rouge has won four times and is rated 93 – he finished second off the mark on January 8 at Lingfield over 1m2f.
He was originally bought as a yearling at the Tattersalls September Yearling Sale in 2018 by Ambrosiana Razza from Knocklong House Stud for €20,000.
(16:19)
Lot 417:
Conall Meegan of Beechmore Bloodstock buys Sydney Street from The Castlebridge Consignment and Hugo Palmer's Kremlin Cottage Stables for 85,000gns. The purchase has been made on behalf of Shawn Dugan, agent, and the son of Dark Angel is shipping to California.
"We have done a bit of business with Shawn in the last 12 months and we have had some success," said Meegan. "He goes to California and looks ready-made for racing there. He was my pick of the sale, he was the one let's hope it works out."
Meegan added: "He has a great demeanour, he has plenty of size, he is clean limbed, we have watched his form and liked what we saw, and the trainer has done a great job. Hopefully he will be up to stakes class right away and I think California on the coast is where he needs to be."
(16:15)
Lot 415:
Saudi Arabian-based Najd Stud, which was busy throughout the autumn at Tattersalls buying horses to race on Saudi, goes to 67,000gns for Velazquez.
"He is by Caravaggio so should suit the racing in Saudi,"said Saud al Qahtani, consultant for Najd Stud. :He has an okay rating, but we hope he will be a good horse. If he improves he may suit the good races."
The gelding is rated 85 and won on December 28, 2021 over 7f at Newcastle.
(16:14)
Lot 413:
Army General is heading to Saudi Arabia bought by agent Andre Pereira on behalf of owner Yousef Alturaif for 53,000gns.
"He has been bought by Saudi interests and the plan is to run on Dirt," said Pereira, "The horse seems to be quite versatile so he could be tried on Turf, too. The main ambition is to run on Dirt and win a few races. How good he can be, it is to see. He is a lovely looking horse, a nice sort, and is by War Front so he should suit the Dirt.
"He has the nice size, is well fleshed out, a good looking horse and that is what we liked about him."
Army General was previously trained by John and Thady Gosden. He is still a maiden fro just four starts and is rated 73.
(15:55)
Lot 351:
regular Tattersalls buyer, the leading Qatari trainer Jassim Al Ghazali, buys Rockfire, the colt by Sea The Stars sold by Godolphin. Ghazali is busy training at home as the Qatar's big international meeting is just a fortnight away, so agent Will Douglass was in charge of bidding successfully buying the three-year-old at 46,000gns.
Rockfire has now run six times and finished second on his last three starts in handicaps at Wolverhampton, Lingfield and Southwell off a consistent BHA mark of 65.
(14:00)
Lot 342:
Ted Durcan buys two in succession from the Godolphin draft – Perseus Way (Sea The Stars) for 80,000gns and Age Of Sail (Frankel), who cost the agent 60,000gns.
"The Sea The Stars gelding has been bought for a new syndicate of lads, who want a nice fun horse. He vetted out extremely well and is a fine, big scopey horse. The winter will have helped him and he will improve with time. He stays in England, but no training plans have been made as yet," said Durcan.
"Age Of Sail is for an existing owner and will stay in England, too," added Durcan. "He ran once at Goodwood at the back end of the season, it was soft ground stuff and he was a weak horse last year."
The pair are both Godolphin homebreds – Age Of Sail is a grandson of Snow Bridge (Blushing Groom), the dam of the champion three-year-old Lammtarra, while Perseus Seas is a grandson of the Group 1-placed Firth Of Lorne (Danehill), dam of the Group 2 winner Master Of The Seas.
(13:16)
Lot 331:
Social Contract is bought back by her breeder Longview Stud & Bloodstock for 65,000gns from Clipper Logistics.
The daughter of Night Of Thunder won on January 16 at Southwell for trainer Roger Varian and the form is already working out well – the second placed filly Kissininthebackrow has won since.
Social Contract has now run three times having finished fourth first time out and then second before getting the win by her name.
"We bred and sold her as a yearling for 44,000gns [Tattersalls Ascot, 2020], but, as she has won a race now, the boss was keen to buy her back," said farm manager Jim Scallan.
"She stays in training now, but should be a nice broodmare for the future and we wanted a filly out of the mare Operettist. She has had three out of three now and we have a nice filly by Postponed out of her in the field, and we have a two-year-old in training with William Haggas. He is by Night Of Thunder and is very nice, too."
(12:56)
Lot 316 and Lot 317:
both were sold by Barton Sales, both are from the Shadwell draft, both are unraced three-year-olds and both were bought by trainer George Boughey, who was standing in the bidders' area with Sam Haggas. The purchases were signed by Hurworth Bloodstock.
Ensaat (Lot
316) is a son of Kodiac from the family of Kingsgate Native, bred by Lynn Lodge and sold as a yearling to Shadwell for 110,000gns at the October Yearling Sale 2020, while Lahiq (Lot
317) is out of the good racemare Beauly, daughter of Pickle and from the family of Gale Force Ten. He is by Quality Road.
Ensaat cost his new connections 26,000gns, while Lahiq, who was a $400,000 yearling, was a 40,000gns purchase.
Boughey said: "They have both been bought on spec. We have had some success from the last couple of Shadwell drafts, and we are very happy to get two nice horses. We are looking to buy some nice three-year-old types, we bought lots of two-year-old sorts last year. These both have some nice pedigrees to get into, perhaps a different type of horse to what we have had and ones who might get a bit further.
"They are blank canvasses really, the Kodiac is a half to Hype who was better at three, was rated 90 and from a Galileo mare, the Quality Road colt is a big scopey horse who I imagine did not do a lot at two and will only come into himself in the summer.
"The way we look at it, the homework has been done, so hopefully two horse to look for ward to for this year and onwards. They both should have had their time off in the winter so we will press on now."
(12:16)
Lot 276:
from the Shadwell Estate / Barton Sales draft, the unraced three-year-olds Sattam and Tharif are bought by Ted Durcan for 35,000gns and 30,000gns.
They have both been with Dermot Weld and are heading back there for a new client.
"Sattam is a handsome, good walking type, and Dermot likes them both," said Durcan.
Sattam is out of the Teofilo mare Tarayef, who was purchased by Shadwell in 2014 as a yearling in Ireland. She is a half-sister to the Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed pair of Saddler's Rock and Tarfasha, and her second dam is Greektown, dam of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) winner Gamut and the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G2) Multicoloured.
Tharif is out of Khulood, winner of the Nell Gwyn Stakes (G3). She is a daughter of Elle Seule, winner of the Group 2 Prix d'Astarte. the dam of the champions three-year-old filly Mehthaaf and Elnadim, and ancestress of stallions Bangkok, Ribchester, Mondialiste and Intello.
(11:31)

The four-year-old last won on December 29 at Southwell over a mile off a BHA mark of 70 and finished second last time at the same track off his higher mark of 73.

Land Of Eagles, a three-year-old colt by Havana Gold and out of the Selkirk mare Disposition goes to Hurworth Bloodstock for 44,000gns.
Formerly trained by Adam West Training, has run three times finishing fourth and third on his last two runs in September at Ascot and Lingfield.
The gelding's pedigree traces back to Danehill, who is out of Land Of Eagles's third dam Razyana.
(18:59)
Lot 169 and Lot 171:
Caoimhe Doherty buys two lots in succession from the Godolphin draft – Lot
160, Moment Of Silence (Slade Power), who won one race from five starts and is in-foal to Too Darn Hot, and the winner Lucieta (Dawn Approach). She won on her race debut and is carrying to Invincible Spirit.
They cost 95,000gns and 90,000gns respectively.
Doherty said: "They were both good racemares, the Slade Power mare was rated 92 and is in-foal to the right stallion, while Lucieta won a 28-runner Curragh maiden and she was then unlucky – she had a few niggling things going on. However, she is a half-sister to a very good mare in Lucida [Group 2 winner, 1,000 Guineas runner-up], New Approach is a very good broodmare sire and, hopefully, Dawn Approach will kick on and do the same. She is carrying to Invincible Spirit – what is wrong with that?
"There are no plans for stallions as yet, we will get them home and see what they are like, have a good look at them and decide then."
The pair were bought for Tony Smurfit's Forenaghts Stud, near Naas.
"We tried really hard to buy nice mares and fillies here at the Breeding Stock Sale," reported Doherty, stud manager at Forenaghts. "We try to buy good racemares – winning a Curragh maiden, as Lucieta did, is pretty hard to do, while Moment Of Silence, she had a very good rating."
Doherty added: "They both have quite late covers, we will see what we get on the ground before making any decisions, but they are in-foal to the right stallions."
(17:51)
Lot 164:
trainer Julie Camacho buys the Dubawi three-year-old filly Sacred Jewel for 95,000gns as a racing and breeding prospect.
"She is for an existing client and she has a residual value as daughter of Dubawi, but hopefully we will have a bit of fun with her," said Camacho. "We've watched at her races, and my husband spoke to Charlie Appleby who recommended her. She will come home and we will see how she is."
Sacred Jewel is out of Priceless, winner of the Temple Stakes (G2) and from the family of Rebelline, winner of the Tattersalls Gold Cup (G1).
(17:20)
Lot 157:
Good Memories (Sea The Stars) is bought by Sam Sangster from the Godolphin draft for 100,000gns. She is out of Khor Sheed, a Group 2 and Listed winner, the dam of Without A Fight, runner-up in the John Porter Stakes (G3). Khor Steed is a half-sister to the Prix d'Ispahan (G1) winner Prince Kirk.
"She has been bought for a client who has a couple of mares at Barton Stud," said Sangster. "We just wanted to get into Sea The Stars, my client has has had a lot of success with the sire – he had Raheen House who we bought in Book 2 for 35,000gns and has been sold to Australia."
Sangster added: "I loved this filly, she has a lot of quality. The pedigree is very active, I think she has got a lot of stallion opportunities and she stays in the UK.
"We are quite keen on Pinatubo. We will speak to the boys in blue and see what we can do. She has a lot of scope – I really liked Pinatubo when I saw him in December and I think she would be a good match. She has plenty of size, so hopefully that will work out well."
Of price expectations, Sangster said: "Before I saw her, my price on her was a bit lower, but when I saw her she was a real stand out for me. I said to my client this morning that I thought we'd have to give a little more and he was prepared to do so."
(17:07)
Lot 125:
Mazzuri, a seven-year-old Raven's Pass mare sold by Coombelands Racing Stables (Mrs A. Perrett), is bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock / Newsells A'Ali for 46,000gns.
Mazzuri was Listed placed on the All-Weather at Dundalk in 2018 and again at Goodwood the following year. She achieved a BHA career high mark of 95. She is from the further family of the champion sprinter Muhaarar.
New sire A'Ali paraded this morning as part of the TBA Stallion Parade, the son of Society Rock new to Newsells Park Stud for the 2022 season.
(16:27)
Lot 111:
Ballyhimikin Stud buys the Shadwell Estate-consigned Night Of Thunder yearling colt out of Elshaadin (Dalakhani) for 175,000gns.
"Night Of Thunder has done incredibly well, the dam has produced two stakes winners, we like the individual, and he heads to Ireland. He has a fantastic back pedigree and we hope he comes back next October and makes money!" smiled Stroud, speaking on behalf of Ballyhimikin.
Elshaadin is dam of three winners from three runners, including Moqtarreeb, a Listed winner in Abu Dhabi and placed fifth for trainer Erwan Charpy in the Group 2 Zabeel Mile since the catalogue was published, and the winner and twice Group 3 placed Khaloosy (Dubawi).
The third dam is Magnificent Style, the dam of the Group 1 winners Nathaniel, Playful Act and Great Heavens, and the Group 2 winners Percussionist and Echoes In Eternity.
(15:26)
Lot 82:
the two-year-old daughter of Awtaad and a half-sister to the two-time Group 1 winner, Epsom Oaks (G1) runner-up and Arc de Triomphe third-placed Taghrooda (Sea The Stars0 is bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 80,000gns. She was sold by New England Stud.
"She is for a partnership," said buyer Richard Brown. "She is a two-year-old so we are going to chuck her out in the field for a year, I don't think we will race her. I bought this filly's full-sister [Mohjatty] for a quarter of a million at the December Sale, and she goes to Dubawi – there is going to be a lot happening in the pedigree to come."
(14:30)
Lot 70:
Jason Singh of Tattersalls buys this two-year-old filly by Exceed And Excel on behalf of the Dubai-based trainer Satish Seemar for 105,000gns.
"She has been bought for an existing client of Satish Seemar's and she goes to Dubai," said Singh. "Satish is buys looking for recruits for the next season in Middle East. He went through the catalogue himself, put a short list together and got the horses vetted here. She was his pick of the two-year-olds."
A February-born filly, she is out of the two-year-old winner Nawassi (Dubawi), a daughter of the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) winner Maqaasid (Green Desert).
(14:16)
Lot 61:
from the same Shadwell draft, but this time consigned by New England Stud, this 2020-born filly by Mukhadram is bought by Cormac McCormack.
She is a half-sister to Lot
55.
"She is for an established client. She goes into training, she is a nice filly with a bit of a page and you have to pay for them. We also bid on Lot
55," said McCormack
(14:10)
Lot 60:
the Shadwell Stud-offered Muhaarar filly Mashaaer stays in training – the filly, who was second on her sole start to date in a maiden at Ascot, was formerly trained by Richard Hannon, but is now joining Henry Spiller's Newmarket-based team. She was consigned by Barton Sales.
She was bought by Meah / Lloyd Bloodstock for owner Jonathan Sarkar, who already has horses with Spiller.
"Jonathan has three mares with us on the farm and horses in training with Henry," said Jamie Lloyd. "That form of her first race, you didn't make private offers on Shadwell horse, but if you had have done, you would have been offering in the region of £250,000. We just felt she is a filly that down the road, even at this price, she could look cheap. Jonathan is looking for something a bit better and a bit nicer to add to his string."
"She will race and she will breed," said Sarkar.
Henry Spiller was on hand to watch the purchase and said: "We are delighted. Her form is rock solid, we have a filly whose form ties in the third horse and we like her a lot. She is a lovely looking filly, it is a great farm to buy from."
(14:04)
Lot 55:
Anasheed, the daughter of Frankel from the Shadwell Estate Company draft, makes 130,000gns bought by Blandford Bloodstock. She is a daughter of Hathrah (Linamix), who finished third in the 1,000 Guineas (G1), and a half-sister to Hadaatha (Sea The Stars), who also achieved a Group 1 placing to her name when third in the Prix de l'Opera.
Anasheed won once as a three-year-old (from three starts) and has had a colt by Siyouni in 2020 and a filly by Sea The Stars in 2021. She was sold today not in-foal.
She was bought by Richard Brown, who said: "I bought her for a partnership. She was highly rated, despite only racing three times. I spoke to her trainer Owen Burrows who said there was no doubt she was a stakes-calibre filly. She is by the newly crowned champion sire, she has got a nice page, the first two out of her look really nice, they look like good types, and she was the mare I really wanted today."
Of stallion plans, Brown, who manages Ardad, the sire sensation of 2021, said: "I think she will really suit Ardad. He is chock-a-block full, but I have a covering that I can use."
(13:42)
Lot 43 and Lot 44:
two three-year-old fillies from the Musley Bank Stables' draft of Richard Fahey catch the eyes of buyers from stallion farms in Ireland.
Brave Blossom (Mayson), a close relation to Pinchek (Invincible Spirit), winner of the Desmond Stakes (G3), is bought by Rathbarry Stud's Paul Cashman, while Duchess Rose (Dream Ahead) is heading to Tally-Ho Stud having been purchased by Tony O'Callaghan for 52,000gns.
"She might be one for Starman," said O'Callaghan. "She is a nice filly and we have been lucky with the family before – we sold her half-brother Gaudi (Invincible Spirit) for 260,000gns.
Cashman, signing as Glencoole Bloodstock, went to 31,000gns for his purchase and reported that the filly is likely to visit Rathbarry's leading sire Acclamation or the younger Kodi Bear.

Chairman’s Statement
At the conclusion of the 2021 Tattersalls December Mares Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented:
“Beginning with Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, the 2021 Tattersalls sales season has consistently outperformed expectations, and the global demand throughout this week’s December Mares Sale has seen the momentum sustained to the very end.
“Record medians at both the December Yearling Sale and December Foal Sale demonstrated the extraordinary depth in all sectors of the market. We have seen that replicated over the past four days with buyers from throughout the world all contributing to a sale, which has not only comfortably surpassed last year’s returns but also the pre-pandemic levels of 2019.
“The 2021 Tattersalls December Mares Sale has produced turnover well in excess of 60 million guineas, 45 per cent higher than last year, wide-margin gains in average and median, an impressive clearance rate above 80 per cent and an unprecedented 164 fillies and mares who sold for 100,000 guineas or more.
"Annual turnover at Tattersalls has leapt from 260 million guineas in 2020 to more than 320 million guineas this year, a figure bettered only twice and a clear demonstration of a wider industry which has quickly regained confidence and vibrance after the rigours of last year.
“The four outstanding seven-figure lots, Waldlied, Cayenne Pepper, Sunday Times and Flotus, all paid tribute to the consistent demand for bloodstock of the highest quality which has been the feature of the 2021 Tattersalls sales season, but the real highlight has been the opportunity to welcome back so many international buyers to Park Paddocks.
"The Tattersalls December Mares Sale showcases the very best breeding stock to be found in Europe, and the easing of travel restrictions has seen the return of the uniquely international atmosphere to this historic fixture with international buyers competing at all levels of the market. Buyers from America, Australia, France and Japan have been particularly prominent and the throng of overseas participants have faced strong competition throughout from their British and Irish counterparts.
“As well as recognising the massive contribution from the buyers we must also pay tribute to the consignors who every year make the Tattersalls December Sale a highlight of the international bloodstock sales calendar. The major consignments from Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates, as well as the dispersal of Sir Robert Ogden’s fillies and mares, proved to be hugely popular and the support of the top consignors from Britain, Ireland and France has yet again been rewarded with the unrelenting global demand which has long been the hallmark of Europe’s premier sale of breeding stock."
