Lot 305: the bidding kicked off for Mr McCann at 160,000gns and concluded at 210,000gns with a successful bid from Alastair Donald of SackvilleDonald.
The Kodiac colt is a four-time winner, and boasts Group race placed form when fourth in the Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2000 Guineas (G2)). He is BHA rated 101.
"He is for the same destination as this morning [Bahrain, Lot 192 Soapy Stevens]," said Donald.
"They are hard to find – three-year-olds with that kind of rating and that kind of price. He is pretty rock solid, he goes on all ground, he is a god looking type and vets very well."
Of the sale, Donald added: "I think it has been a really good market. I think it makes much more sense to get your money in before the yearling sales, and it saves two months' training fees [than waiting for October] and for the fast ground horses they are going to lose their ground shortly.
"I hope the sale gets bigger and stronger." (18:48)
Lot 299: Operating, widely expected to be one of the top-priced lots today, did not disappoint, the War Front three-year-old colt making 250,000gns.
A progressive sort, he has run five times and won twice for trainers John and Thady Gosden, and owners Michael Tabor, Mrs John Magnier, Derek Smith and Westerberg.
Successful over a mile in a maiden at Windsor and then at Nottingham off a BHA rating of 83, he finished sixth of 14 at York in the Sky Bet Mile Handicap off an official rating of 91. He has an entry in the Cambridgeshire.
Operating was bought today by the Saudi-based Najd Stud, bidding via Jimmy George, who said: "The team has been following the sale at home, there was a few on a short list. He is a nice prospect and very much fits into the mould that the Najd Stud team has bought in the past."
The organisation has strongly supported the August sale in its two previous years. (18:18)
Lot 289: The five-time winner The Covex Kid has improved from a rating of 46 in May to 70 for trainer Amy Murphy, the son of Mehmas has been bought to continue his racing career in Bahrain, bought by HH Sultan Aldeen MS Al-Khalifa for 160,000gns.
Murphy said: "He has been an absolute dude of a horse, he is really straightforward, he has gone from strength to strength throughout the whole summer and I don't think he is finished here – it won't be the last we will hear of him.
"He has got a great constitution and a great racing brain. He loves fast ground, goes around a bend so well. I think Bahrain will be perfect for him."
Murphy added: "He has been owned by a syndicate. I am thrilled for them. They've all had a great kick out of the wins as well as a great payday today.
"I think this sale works great – it is good for the new buyers as they can plan better for the autumn. Hopefully, my owners can reinvest in the yearlings, the yearling sales are just around the corner!"
Ali Majeed Ali, who was bidding for HH Sultan, said: "The horse is to now be trained by Fawzi Nass in Bahrain. The horse has some improvement, he will suit 1m2f and firm ground.
"It is good to come to Tattersalls in August – we want more horses here! The horses we have had from last year August Sale are all winners, I am keen now!" (18:00)
Lot 120: Mostly Cloudy (Harzand), who has won five races this spring and summer for rookie trainer Gemma Tutty, has been sold to go to Australia, bought by Mulcaster Racing for Australia.
The colt was purchased by Tutty with Kings Bloodstock for 23,000gns at the Tattersalls October Autumn Horse In Training Sale in 2021.
Tutty had mixed emotions today with the horse successfully sold.
"It is bitter sweet, my best horse gone, but it has been an amazing return and hopefully the owners will reinvest," she said. "He has really put me on the map, and done wonders for the profile of Kings Bloodstock and myself in finding him and buying him. With all these sales upcoming, it is the right time of year to be getting returns like this so we can reinvest and owners can have confidence that we can find them."
Explaining what was seen in the horse, who had run once previously to her purchase, Tutty said: "It was the way he raced so green in the early stages – the penny seemed to drop late on and his sectionals for the last three furlongs were really impressive.
"You could just see that he was learning on the job and, with a bit of time and a trip... We hoped he was going to get into the 80s –he has exceeded expectations to have ended up at Group level.
That Group race run came last time out when fifth in the Group 2 2m Lonsdale Cup at York.
Tutty said: "York could have worked out a little better, it was a messy sort of a race, but he did not disgrace himself and he was just 2l from second. If you told us at the start of his journey that is where we would end up we'd have been absolutely thrilled. So it has been a hell of a journey, we are sorry to see him go but I hope he has a wonderful career in Australia."
Mostly Cloudy had been purchased by Tutty with resale always in mind.
"He was always to 'trade', and although you never enjoy the moment when it comes, he was never to be a 'long term' horse, I have never been dreaming of his four-year-old career. At one stage, he could have been sold even earlier – it was after his Sandown victory that people really became aware of him, and he was only rated 65 then!
"His win Ascot [off 86, over 2m in the Brown Jack Handicap] was an amazing day – all the owners were there and it was some buzz, we had all bought him together. For us all to enjoy it together was absolutely amazing, let's hope we can carry on doing it!"
The decision to sell now has been a decision the syndicate and Tutty have had to ponder.
"We debated selling a lot, but you have got to sell when the piece is right – if he he had not reached the money today everyone was happy to keep on going. With horses you've got to sell when the money is there, you never know what is around the corner. The money is in the kitty now to buy more horses – having money in the pocket at this time of year is key!"
Tutty concluded: "These owners had an awful lot of faith in me, I did not even have a trainers' licence when he was bought."
Tattersalls' Jimmy George, who was bidding on behalf of Guy Mulcaster, said: "Mostly Cloudy was bought very reasonably here at last year's Autumn Horses In Training Sale, and Gemma has done a great job with him. He ran up a sequence and Gemma very much deserves the success she has have had with him. He looks an ideal type to go on in Australia." (17:21)
Lot 228: New Romance, an unraced daughter of Dubawi and out of the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Beautiful Romance (New Approach), is bought from Godolphin for 100,000gns by Johnny McKeever.
"We bought her to cover on southern hemisphere time, probably to Kingman. She is for Australian client Jeffrey Liu, who is based in Perth," said McKeever.
"We liked that she is an unraced Dubawi with three siblings – Marie from Godolphin has told me they are all quite well regarded. There is a two-year-old that is quite good, the yearling is very well thought of, the Kingman is apparently nice, too and hopefully we will have a three-parts brother or sister."
McKeever added: "We were looking for a mare, I like the page a lot, I like the potential, I like the fact that things could happen."
Beautiful Romance, born in 2012, has a Dubawi 2020 filly called Fair Rosamund, a 2021 colt by Lope De Vega and a 2022 colt by Kingman.
It has been a good day for Kingman - sire of the day's German Group 3-winning juvenile Habana. (16:22)
Lot 217: Nationwide (Exceed And Excel), who has won four races this year for owner-trainer John Butler and gone from a starter handicap mark of 77 in April to 93, is bought by Oliver St Lawrence for Fawzi Nass.
Nass said: "He goes to Dubai, for myself and Sheikh Nasser's Victorious Racing. The horse should be suited by the Dirt – he has shown good All-Weather form, hopefully he can transfer that to the Dirt in Dubai. He will ship in three weeks' time.
"His form has been impressive this year – maybe we should take John Butler with him to Dubai!"
The four-year-old colt, who was bought by Butler for just 10,000gns here last October, was a €43,000 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling, (15:43)
Lot 213: Ollie Murphy is not at Tattersalls today, but has still registered as a successful buyer, going to 72,000gns for Gaius sold by East Everleigh Stables.
He was bidding via telephone to Tattersalls Ireland's Shirley Anderson-Jolag.
"Ollie selected him to go juvenile hurdling," said Anderson-Jolag. "He has been bought on spec."
The Havana Gold colt, a winner since the catalogue was published, has run ten times for one win, and eight places. He has been campaigned over 1m2f this season and has not finished out of the placings. (15:33)
Lot 192: Alastair Donald of SackvilleDonald goes to 125,000gns for Soapy Stevens, sold by Kingsley Park for owners Jim Duggan and Scott Brown.
"He goes to Bahrain and is for a long-standing client," said Donald. "He is a smashing individual, a fine big strong horse, he looks in amazing nick, is super sound. He has never really run a bad race, is ultra-tough and loves the firm ground. Those real stayers have done quite well in 1m4f+ races in Bahrain as they go hard and these horses can finish strong.
"He will be aimed at the 1m4f series, then if all goes well there is the valuable 1m6f Red Sea Turf Handicap in Saudi."
Soapy Stevens has won four races from 18 starts, once since the catalogue was published, and been placed seven times. He has won over trips from 1m4f to 2m. His highest winning mark is 91. (14:48)
Lot 172: Jamie Lloyd makes good his earlier promise to buy again today ... the agent successfully goes to 125,000gns for Zulu Tracker (Footstepsinthesand) from Ed Walker Racing.
"He is another for Tom Molloy," he said. "We bought a younger horse earlier and it is nice to buy him a top class older horse, something to go to war with. He looks like a very progressive type, he has won his last few races and he is on the improve. Footstepsinthesand is one of the most international sires in the catalogue, he can go anywhere in the world and do the job.
"I am very happy to have got him and the trainer is even happier than I am."
Zulu Tracker, a 50,000gns Tattersalls October Book 2 graduate, has won his last three races, over mile and 7f, and is now rated 85. (14:02)
Lot 167: the May Hill Stakes (G3) third-placed filly Rolling The Dice is bought by Stroud Coleman for 98,000gns.
The daughter of Mehmas is rated 92 and won a Newbury fillies' maiden in July 2021 over 7f.
Her dam Padma (Three Valleys) is a half-sister to the Nassau Stakes (G1) winner Winsili (Dansili). (14:00)
Lot 128: "He is going to Qatar for trainer Thomas Molloy," said purchaser Jamie Lloyd after going to 70,000gns for Valdai (Kodiac) sold by Clive Cox's Beechdown Stables. "We are building his stables and aiming to try to get a couple more here, we got a couple at the July Sale.
"We stretched a little bit to get Valdai, but really that price for a Timeform 87-rated two-year-old is not that much of stretch at all. There is a nice two-year-old stakes race in Qatar at the end of the season, which will be targeted. He is a lovely colt, very clean vets, and I have spoken to Clive about him a while ago, I think he will be a nice addition to Tom's stable."
The colt, bred by Nurlan Bizakov's S A S Haras De Montfort et Preaux and owned in training by Bizakov, has run twice and won last time out at Leicester over 7f.
Will Douglass was underbidder. (13:08)
Lot 91: Green Team (Wootton Bassett) is bought by trainer Ian Williams for 85,000gns.
A winner as a two-year-old, the colt has run down-the-field in three Group races since, trained initially by Kevin Ryan and then Owen Burrows this year. He is BHA rated 94 and ran last time out in the Bahrain Trophy (G3) behind Deauville Legend.
"He does not look to be an out and out stayer to me yet, and he looks an ideal horse to take to Bahrain," said Williams. "He has had a few issues with his feet, which he should get some time to get over.
"It is a great time of year to buy them at the August Sale as you do get time to give them a chance and a break before committing them to a foreign programme."
Williams added with a smile: "Who knows he might jump, too! It would certainly be safety net for him, it will totally depend on who buys him and where he ends up. Owen recommend him and we listen to what he says." (12:10)
Lot 80: What's In The Bag (Dark Angel) is bought by Richard Ryan for 50,000gns, it is the second time the agent has bought the horse having purchased the three-year-old gelding for £60,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Sale in June 2021.
"He looks progressive, and there is a chance he can go up a grade or two hopefully and make into a proper sprinter next year," said Ryan. "He is a sort of work in progress, he has only just got the hang of what is required, and that was probably our limit.
"I bought him as a breeze-up horse for his current owner, but he is going a different route with his ownership, and this horse is still an unfinished project. The trainer [Roger Teal] is very keen on the horse and he is very good with speed horses – he is going back there.
"I like the horse physically, he is a beautiful specimen. He was a bit keen and head strong as a full horse, but the penny is dropping now he is gelded and he can go much. He will probably run under Teme Valley."
Ryan is racing manager for Teme Valley, involved with State Of Rest. It was announced this week that the Starspangledbanner four-time Group 1-winning colt, a Tattersalls December Foal and October Book 2 graduate, has been retired to stud after an injury was revealed on an MRI scan ahead of travelling to Australia in an attempt to win the Cox Plate for the second year in succession.
"It is disappointing but more so for the new shareholders," said Ryan. "He is a brilliant racehorse, his career has been cut short, but he is horse of a lifetime with few things left to prove. It is just a shame he did not get out to probably win the Cox Plate again – a stone better off would have been quite mouthwatering."
Of the colt's future as a stallion Ryan added: "He should make a nice stallion with his attitude – we will try and help make some nice babies for him. We have got some very nice fillies for him and two are earmarked already – a half-sister to Jacqueline's Quest and a very nice Oasis Dream filly, amongst others.
"I believe he will have a really well-backed book of mares from owner-breeders and shareholders. Rathbarry really does get them going." (11:58)
Lot 59: the unraced two-year-old colt King Lear, by Galileo and out of the Falmouth Stakes (G1) and Prix Rothschild Stakes (G1) winner Amazing Maria, is bought by trainer George Boughey with Hurworth Bloodstock.
"His pedigree speaks for itself, he is out of a Group 1 winner and by Galileo and there are not many of those left," said Boughey. "He is bought for an existing client who has done well with a similar sort of type. We don't know too much about the horse, he is a bit of a blank canvas, these sort of horse I kinda treat as if they are yearlings.
"He is a nice physical and the pedigree backs him up. He is worth a punt at the price. The dam got good at four, you wouldn't immediately have expected him to be running in the August of his two-year-old career. We will give him all the time he needs and he is a good type to have in the stable."
The colt was sold for Lady Ogden by Barton Sales. (11:15)
Lot 39: Grigadale, by Kodiac, is heading to Bahrain, bought for HH Sultan Aldeen MS Al-Khalifa
A winner since the catalogue was published, the former David Barron-trained gelding is now a winner of three races.
"We will take him to Bahrain and he is for the new series. We hope to improve his mark and then step him up in race quality," said Al-Khalifa's spokesperson. "The horse is in-form and he will ship soon." (10:39)

Tattersalls July Sale
Chairman's statement At the conclusion of the 2022 Tattersalls July Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented:
“Records across the board are always welcome and the 2022 Tattersalls July Sale has achieved unprecedented figures for all the key indicators.
"The sale turnover has exceeded 16 million guineas for the first time, an average price in excess of 30,000 guineas is also a first for this fixture and the median of 15,000 guineas is another sale record and a clear indication of a sale which has shown extraordinary strength and depth from start to finish.
“The top price of 540,000 guineas paid for the outstanding Shadwell mare Rihaam is also a July Sale record, but perhaps the most important statistic is the clearance rate which for the fourth consecutive year was more than 90% and on day 2 of the sale was a truly extraordinary 99%.
"Demand at all levels of the market has been typically international with buyers from every continent in the world all contributing to the record breaking trade and particularly notable has been the strong Australian contingent headed by Zhang Yuesheng’s Yulong Investments.
"Domestic buyers, both Flat and National Hunt, have also been competing strongly all week and the sustained demand for well-bred fillies and mares is another positive not only for the Tattersalls July Sale but also for the wider industry." ()

Lot 828: Upton Park from the same draft of Qatar Racing and Jamie Railton is bought by Qatar-based trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al-Malki. He has run four times and has won twice last year at Wolverhampton over a mile and again this year over 1m4f. That was a 0-85 handicap and he is now rated 91.
He is by Elm Park and was part-owned by Andrew Balding.
"He won very well at Newbury on his most recent run and he is what I am looking for, a god, big scopey horse. He will hopefully be a good horse for the Qatar Derby," said Ibrahim Saeed Al-Malki. (19:57)
Lot 827: Spartan Army, a three-year-old son of Highland Reel, is bought by agent Jerry McGrath for 170,000gns.
Formerly owned by Qatar Racing, the colt was previously trained by Joseph O'Brien and sold today by Jamie Railton Bloodstock. He was bred by Sean Connolly.
He has run just three times, winning last time out at Down Royal over 1m2f on yielding ground. He was given a rating of 87.
"He has been bought predominantly to go jumping but he will run on the Flat, too," said McGrath. "He is very nice horse and is by a young stallion who has only had a few jumpers, but is is already doing exciting things. He goes into training with Alan King. The immediate plans will be up to Alan." (19:51)
Lot 806: "He is a nice horse and very progressive," commented Will Douglass after spending 205,000gns on Salvator Mundi (Galileo). Douglass was with leading Qatari trainer Gassim Ghazali.
He added: "I like buying from Mr Gosden because the horses are well-bred and produced, they are respected and there is a lot left in the tank. I bought a few last year and they have gone all over the world and won. This horse will go straight to Qatar. We waited all day for him."
Salvator Mundi was bred by Bjorn Nielsen and is out of Bufera (King's Best). The three-year-old bay gelding has run six times winning his last two starts over 1m4f and 1m6f. He is now rated 91. His Turf form has all come on good and good to firm ground.
Salvator Mundi is a brother to the Listed-placed filly Gloria Mundi and a half-brother to the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Chartreuse.
Dam Bufera is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Johnny Barnes, to Albisola (Montjeu), winner of the Prix de Flore (G3), as well as to Tonnara, the dam of the Group 1 winners Ectot and Most Improved. (19:30)
Lot 807: Dukedom is bought by Satish Seemar and the son of Dubawi, a winner on his last start, will ship to Dubai. He cost his new connections 105,000gns.
"I have had my eye on this horse for a time. I am a big fan of Dubawi, and when I was training had a number of them," said Seemar, adding: "We had a lot of success with them. My client likes the stallion, too.
"This horse's pedigree is very impressive, the dam side is very strong and he is a gelding. He will improve with time, too – the Dubawis they bloom later than some stallions, they really come around the age of four."
He concluded: "Anything from Gosden yard is not over worked or over cooked. He will ship when I get a couple more horses to join the transport."
Dukedom is out of Nathra (Iffraaj), who was a winner of the Nell Gwyn Stakes (G3) and finished second in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile and the Poule D'Essai des Pouliches, and third in the Sun Chariot Stakes (G1) and fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (G1). She has had two foals of racing age. (19:22)
Lot 798B: the wildcard entry Crystal Estrella sells for 275,000gns. She was signed for by Team Valor International.
The Iffraaj three-year-old filly was a bred by Southcourt Stud, owned by Sir Evelyn De Rothschild and trained by Sir Michael Stoute. She has run three times, winning impressively on her last start and is rated 89.
Barry Irwin of Team Valor, talking on the telephone, said: "I like the way she finished her races out, especially in the last 150m or so. She looks like she is a solid middle-distance filly on the way up. I like her pedigree, she looks as though she is a big good-looking filly who will improve this year and especially next year.
"She has a half-brother who won four in a row, including two Listed races in Australia. He could possibly win a Group race and that will help a little bit. The second dam was very good. I am going to send her back to Sir Michael, I am going to think about what I want to do. He knows her, and I will talk to him, I have not done so yet. It is hard to find fillies like her. I am happy to have her."
Her second dam Crystal Star is dam of Crystal Ocean, a champion older horse in 2019 and winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) and five times runner-up in top middle-distance Group 1 races. (19:00)
Lot 761: offered by William Knight's Rathmore Stables on behalf of owner J.I. Barnett, Year of The Dragon is sold to Ahmad Alabdullatif for 60,000gns. The gelding is the buyer's sixth purchase at this year's July Sale.
This four-year-old gelding is the most expensive of Alabdullatif's sextet – he was a winner in 2021, and has been placed this year and since the catalogue was printed. Since he was awarded his first handicap mark of 82, he has always been rated in the 80s.
Since April he has run three times over 1m4f, once over 1m6f. In total, he has run 13 times and won or placed on nine of those outings. (18:16)
Lot 757: the four-time winner Arctic Emperor, who is by Territories and out of the Selkirk mare Selkirk Sky, makes 78,000gns. He was bought by HH Sultan Aldeen MS Al-Khalifa.
He is Timeform rated 95 and has been in training with Archie Watson. He was bred by the Late Mrs R. D. Peacock and was bought as a yearling by Blandford Bloodstock here at the October Book 3 Sale in 2019 for 45,000gns.
Selkirk Sky is dam of five winners and is a half-sister to the Listed winner Andronikos, who also finished second in the Gimcrack Stakes (G2).
He was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment. (17:59)
We reconvene at 5.00pm for the last session of the July Sale 2022 (16:27)
Lot 710: this year's Royal Ascot winner Latin Lover was one of the day's expected highlights and the gelding by Starspangledbanner did not disappoint, the three-year-old subject of a lengthy bidding battle, both online and in the ring, the final result going to the online bidder at 210,000gns. The docket was signed under the Ahead All As Agent banner.
The Harry Eustace-trained progressive bay gelding won the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Handicap (0-105) under Hayley Turner for a third career victory. He was rated then 85 and has been put up to a BHA mark of 89. He won on his previous start at the beginning of June at Kempton – and he has now won twice over 5f and once over 6f.
He was bought as a yearling for just €21,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale 2020 by De Burgh Equine from Glenvale Stud having been bred by Grangecon Holdings Ltd. He is out of the Listed-placed mare Blue Dahlia (Shamardal), the dam of four winners from six runners. She hails from the talented family of Dance Parade, Leading Light, Romantic Proposal, and Bel Sprinter.
“Latin Lover looks strong and a good example of one by Starspanglebanner," said the buyer's representative. "He won well in at Royal Ascot last month in a big field of 27 runners. He has improved after being gelded last year, and is concentrating more on the job as a three-year-old. His performance is getting better. He is a good size and I expect him to make up into a good sprinter." (12:39)
Lot 656: Manaslu, the progressive and lightly raced son of Starspangledbanner is bought by Abdullah Ali Al-Saif for 80,000gns, a good return on his yearling purchase price of 42,000gns at the October Book 2 Sale in 2020.
The three-year-old colt won in May and finished second at Chester in June and has only run four times.
He was bred by Old Carhue Stud and Martin McHale out of the Dark Angel mare Dark Seductress, a half-sister to the Clive Brittain's Oaks d'Italia (G1) winner Menhoubah. (12:12)
Lot 654: the Horse Watchers, the ownerhip syndicate run by Chris and Martin Dixon, buys Aphelios, the purchase signed for by Jason Kelly Bloodstock / Horse Watchers at 70,000gns.
The gelding by Kodiac was part of the Beckhampton House Stables draft and he finished second last time out (on his second handicap outing) over 6f at Nottingham having won at Windsor in May over the same trip.
The Racing Post analysis after the Nottingham run said: "This was only his [Alhelios] fifth start and he should do better as he strengthens up."
He has not finished out of the first two in his last four starts, and was third on his career debut at Lingfield in January.
He is out of the Singspiel mare Homily, dam of the Group 2 winner Land Of Legends (Iffraaj), a daughter of the Challenge Stakes (G2) winner Last Resort and a half-sister to Rebellion (Mozart), a Grade 2 winner in the US.
He is another bred by Kingwood Stud and raced by Kingwood Stud Management Co Ltd. (11:53)
Lot 656: Ludus, from the Beckhampton House Stables draft of Harry and Roger Charlton, is bought by Alastair Donald of Sackville Donald for 55,000gns.
It was the colt's first venture into a sale ring – he was bred by Kingwood Stud out of the Listed-placed Nayef mare Comeback Queen, and was raced by Kingwood Stud Management Co Ltd.
The three-year-old by New Approach did not run at two, but has run four times at three and won on his handicap debut (off 64) at Yarmouth last month. He is now rated 67. (11:36)
Lot 645: the Lope De Vega gelding named Puerto De Vega, consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, goes to Andre Pereira for 80,000gns.
He is a four-time winner, his last victory achieved since the catalogue was published when winning at Epsom at the end of June over 6f and off a BHA rating of 78.
Pereira said: "He is a lovely horse, a beautiful type, very correct and a great physical. He has proven form, and by Lope De Vega and out of an Exceed And Excel mare. He goes to Saudi Arabia for the Carnival season. Hopefully, if he adapts well out there, he will make up into one for the World Cup meeting. I am very happy to get him." (10:57)
Lot 636: the four-time winner Roxzoff (Zoffany), placed twice since the catalogue was published, including when a neck second at Newmarket on June 23, makes 150,000gns.
He has been bought to go to Bahrain and is for Sheikh Nasser, whose representative Yousif Taher said: "He is a good horse that we think will suit racing in Bahrain and I came especially for this horse. He is well-handicapped and improving and will race for Sheikh Nasser's Victorious Racing."
He has gone up 29lb since January, all his race wins come since then, and he is now on a mark of 87. Since his race debut over 6f he has been running over 7f and more recently a mile. All of his runs this year on Turf have come on good and good to firm ground.
He was purchased here as a yearling for 45,000gns at the October Book 1 Sale 2020. (10:35)
Lot 610: Olympic Dream, a 2019-born colt by New Approach out of Mazuna (Cape Cross) and from Weathercock House Stables (R. Hughes), is picked up by Mohammed Al-Hussini for 28,000gns.
The colt, a full-brother to Beautiful Romance, winner of the Middleton Stakes (G2), has run three times. He finished third at Lingfield in May over 1m3f and fourth at Goodwood in June over 1m6f. All his runs have come this year and he has been given a rating of 70. (10:17)

Lot 564: Rollajam, by Belardo and out of the Teofilo mare Papaya, is bought by Oliver St Lawrence for 120,000gns. Papaya is a half-sister to Lend A Hand, a champion juvenile in Italy and winner of the Gran Criterium (G1), and she has bred two winners from three runners.
The three-year-old gelding won in May at Ripon over 1m2f and was second last time out in June at Redcar over the same trip for trainer Jedd O'Keeffe. Rollajam is BHA rated 82 and was bought for 65,000gns as a yearling at the Tattersalls December Sale 2020.
“He’s a lovely, big, strong horse,” said St Lawrence. “I spoke to Jedd yesterday, I’ve done some business with him before, and he highly recommended the horse. The horse seems very sound and I’ve actually known him since he was a foal as he was bred by Tim and Gill Bostwick of Biddestone Stud. Hopefully he’ll do well out in Bahrain.” (20:06)
Lot 561: "He is a nice, young progressive horse,"said Stephen Thorne of Shamrock Thoroughbreds after spending 100,000gns on Exquisite Acclaim. "He goes into training with Ado McGuinness. We will probably geld him and give him a little bit of a break now. We hope he will do well back sprinting and, hopefully, he will be a horse for a foreign trip, somewhere like Doha next spring. We are looking forward to him."
Thorne added: "We are always keen to travel a horse as the prize-money is so good, and if we can find a nice horse who might suit those races, then we are keen to take a chance. This is a fast ground horse and he is bred to be a sprinter – he is by Acclamation and out of an Exceed And Excel mare. He came highly recommended, too."
Sold by Baroda Stud, the colt was trained by Jessica Harrington for Zhang Yuesheng of Yulong Thoroughbreds. (19:52)
Lot 548: offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, National Gallery is sold for 110,000gns to Kuwait-based owner Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah.
Previously trained by Joseph O'Brien, the Caravaggio three-year-old, bred by Con Marnane, last won on June 17 at Limerick over six and a half furlongs.
He is a half-brother to Forever In Dreams (Dream Ahead), who finished second in the Commonwealth Cup (G1). His Green Tune dam Dora De Green is a half-sister to the July Cup (G1) winner Marchand D'or.
Bill Dwan of The Castlebridge Consignment said: "He is very good looking horse, he is looking very progressive and his win in June looks a good performance. He came highly recommended by Joseph O'Brien and I wish his new connections the best with him." (19:45)
Lot 540: Grenoble consigned by the William Haggas team from Somerville Lodge, is bought by Mark Pilkington Management / William Johnson Bloodstock at 130,000gns.
The son of Siyouni was bred and raced by Newsells Park Stud and finished second last time out at the beginning of June at Epsom over 1m2f off a rating of 92. The son of Siyouni was a winner at two at Nottingham in October.
He is out of Giants Play (Giant's Causeway), the daughter of Playful Act (Sadler's Wells), who was a joint-champion two-year-old of 2004 and winner of the Fillies Mile (G1).
"He is lightly raced horse like this and comes into Australia with a rating that enables him to work through the grades," said Will Johnson. "He falls straight into Saturday class in Australia and with prize-money continuing to improve there are plenty of options from him over a mile to 1m4f," said Johnson, who added: "Rather than always spending the big dollars on a horse who will land you straight into a Group 1, you can have a lot of fun working through the Saturday races and the Listed and Group stage down the line.
"Siyouni is an extremely good stallion and he goes well in Australia, his horses bred on southern hemisphere time, their stakes winners to runners is extremely strong, and he has got Amelia's Jewel in western Australia. Sottsass and St Mark's Basilica are standing at Coolmore Australia this year, it ensures everyone knows the stallion. It always helps whatever horse you buy if they have a bit of a pedigree and are by the right stallion."
Johnson said:"He is for Darren Thomas of Seymour Bloodstock who, along with his racing manager Mark Pilkington, identified the horse. I have helped them on the ground with inspections and organising the vetting and the finer details. We will have a bit more of a plan as regards the trainer when they wake up with the news they have bought the horse!"
Seymour Bloodstock owned Merchant Navy, who travel to Royal Ascot in 2018 and won the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (G1) having won the Coolmore Stud stakes (G1) the previous November. (19:36)
Lot 525 and Lot 528: fillies and mares hailing from Juddmonte are always popular – Convection (Lot 525) and Roll Call (Lot 528) are no exceptions to the rule and both sold for 70,000gns.
Convection is a daughter of Oasis Dream and was bought by Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock.
She is out of Mechanism (Zamindar), a full-sister to Timepiece, winner of the Falmouth Stakes (G1) and multiple Group 1 placed. She is also a half-sister to the Group 1 winner Passage Of Time, the dam of Time Test.
"She has been bought for Wardley Farm, Hazelmere," said Goff, adding: "She will head to the farm from here. She is a lovely filly, I thought she was the nicest of this Juddmonte draft. She is a winner, she is by Oasis Dream and she traces to the fine family of Passage Of Time, Time Test and Twice Over."
She has won once in the autumn of her two-year-old season, and has run three times this year, finishing second on her second start in a mile 0-75 mile handicap at Newmarket.
Roll Call, by the leading US stallion Into Mischief, was bought by Rathbran Bloodstock. She is out of the Nassau Stakes (G1) third Principal Role (Empire Maker), the dam of three winners. Principal Role is a daughter of the Grade 2 winner Interim, the dam of Charles Whittingham Handicap (G1) winner Midships and grand-dam of Temida, winner of the Grosser Preis von Bayern (G1) (18:47)
Lot 517: Riot, by Kingman and out of Alexander Queen (King's Best), makes 43,000gns.
He has not won since 2019 but has been consistently rated over 90 for much of the time since, and finished third in the Buckingham Palace Stakes last year. He is now on a mark 83.
His second dam is the star mare Lady Alexander (Night Shift), winner of the Molecomb Stakes (G2), the dam of the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) runner-up Anthem Alexander and Dandy Man, placed third in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1).
He was bought by Jason Kelly Bloodstock. (18:17)
Lot 499: Ted Durcan steps in to buy True Warfare, consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment. The three-year-old colt by Siyouni cost the buyer Ahmad Alabdullatif 68,000gns.
He was a winner three days ago for trainer Kevin Ryan and owner Clipper Logistics, successful at Ayr over 7f by a head and off a rating of 76. He has run four times and won on his career debut in December at Southwell.
His dam Patronising (Galileo) is a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Lillie Langtry, the dam of the multiple champion Minding (Galileo), the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Empress Josephine and the Epsom Oaks winner of this year, Tuesday. (17:46)
