Lot 98: Durcan Bloodstock finds the buying habit – the jockey-turned-agent buys this son of Sioux Nation for 190,000gns. She was sold by Johnny Hassett's The Bloodstock Connection, the colt having been bought for just €48,000 as a yearling.

His third dam is Fictitious, an own-sister to Phantom Gold, winner of the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (G2), the Ribblesdale Stakes (G2), the St Simon Stakes (G2) and placed second in the Lancashire Oaks (G3). (21:51)

Lot 97: "She has been bought to go into training with Owen Burrows and is for owner Oliver Harris," reported Ted Durcan of Durcan Bloodstock after spending 210,000gns on this Zoustar filly out of the Listed winner and Round Tower Stakes (G3) third-placed An Ghalanta (Holy Roman Emperor).

An Ghalanta is dam of six winners from six runners, including the Listed winner Time Scale and the Nassau Stakes (G2) and Albany Sakes (G3) runner-up Bletchley.

It was another good sale for Longways Stables, leading consignor (by average) in the first session of this year's Craven Sale, the farm having paid €60,000 for the January-born filly last autumn. (21:45)

Lot 82: agent Stephen Hillen and trainer Kevin Ryan go to 190,000gns for the Exceed And Excel colt out of the six-time winner Victory Wave sold by Yeomanstown Stud.

The March colt is the first born out of the Distorted Humor mare, an own-sister to the Royal Lodge and Vintage Stakes (G2) runner-up Artigiano, who was trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin.

It is the further family of State Of Rest, who was so influential in today's decision by Richard Ryan and Teme Valley to purchase Lot 34. (21:27)

Lot 59: this colt by Farhh and out of the unraced Souila (Speightstown) is sold by Lackendarra Stables to Blandford Bloodstock and Joseph O'Brien for 235,000gns.

The brown colt is a grandson of Quishchi (Encosta De Lago) winner of a Listed race in the US and placed at Grade 3 level. She is dam of Mrs Sippy (Blame), the Grade 2 winner of the Glens Falls Stakes and a runner-up in the Flower Bowl Stakes (G1).

It is the further family of the champion two-year-old and three-year-old Grand Lodge.

The January-born colt, consigned as a yearling by Newsells Park Stud Ltd at last year's October Book 2 Sale, was bought then by Linehan Bloodstock for 105,000gns. (20:41)

Lot 47: the bidding on this son of Munnings opened up at 100,000gns and progressed to 360,000gns with a successful bid from Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock, bidding on behalf of owner Fawzi Nass, who was standing in the gangway with trainer Roger Varian.

St Lawrence said: "He is a very taking horse, Roger was keen on him and so was I. He looks like a type who could get to Royal Ascot. We have had luck with Munnings before with Shahama, who did well in Dubai and then went to the US."

Of this colt's breeze, St Lawrence said: "He did a perfectly nice time without setting the world alight. Mick brings them along nicely and does not push them too hard."

Varian added: "He looks a strong horse, so hopefully we can get him home and see where we go."

A smiling consignor Mick Murphy of Longways Stables said: "I am a very happy vendor! He was very popular, we had a lot of the right people on him. I was very hopeful, but you never know.

"I bought him in the US and we bought him to come to the Craven, we thought he'd suit this sale. I have been lucky enough to have already sold a Royal Ascot winner, this could be another!"

Murphy continued: "He is a horse who wants good ground and he breezed exceptionally well considering the conditions. He is a quick horse and a lot of people said he is very similar to Jack Christopher."

Jack Christopher is Munnings' leading runner so far and was a three-time Grade 1 winner of the Champagne Stakes, the Woody Stephens Stakes and the H Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes. He stands at Ashford Stud alongside his sire. (20:26)

Lot 38: regular breeze up buyer trainer Michael O'Callaghan goes to 240,000gns for the Territories half-sister to the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) winner Lezoo.

Dam Roger Sez (Red Clubs) won the Firth Of Clyde Stakes (G3) and was placed three times at Listed level as a two and three-year-old. She is dam of four winners from five runners.

The February filly was sold by Tally-Ho Stud, Hamish Macauley Bloodstock having bought her for 92,000gns at the October Book 1 Sale last autumn from Highclere Stud. (20:20)

Lot 34: agent Richard Ryan spends 320,000gns on this son of Starspangledbanner, buying on behalf of a partnership between Teme Valley Racing and Coolmore. The January-born colt, a full-brother to a dual winner, was sold by Mocklershill Bloodstock, bought as a yearling by J B Bloodstock for 62,000gns at the October Book 2 sale last year.

"He is an exceptional individual, he breezed very well and he is not unlike State Of Rest [also by Starspangledbanner] and he goes to Joseph O'Brien," explained Ryan. "It is Teme Valley's first foray with Coolmore as partners and we are thrilled – we loved the horse, let's hope he is lucky."

He added: "I don't think he will be too long to get to the racecourse, he is a natural easy mover with a great mind. He has every chance of being active this season, that what is we are hoping for. Joseph knows this type of horse exceptionally well and handles them brilliantly. It is a good fit all round."

Of the comparison with State Of Rest, he enthused: "There are huge similarities – this colt has a good girth, great movement, a good mind, everything that you would like to see in a youngster."

State Of Rest, by Starspangledbanner and owned by Teme Valley, initially as sole owner and then in a partnership, won four Group and Grade 1 races through August 2021 to June 2022.

He is a dual Tattersalls graduate – sold as a foal and then as a yearling at the October Book 2 sale in 2019 when bought by Aiden O'Ryan and Joseph O'Brien for 60,000gns.

State Of Rest is standing his first season at Rathbarry Stud at a fee of €25,000. (20:11)

Lot 30: stallion Blue Point has made a great start with his first crop of runners and has already three winners on his score sheet, the latest winner coming today at Newmarket with Blue Storm's victory in the 5f Pat Smullen Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes.

The son of Shamardal adds to today's achievements in the sale ring – his colt out of the Listed winner Rebecca Rocks (Exceed And Excel) consigned by Tally-Ho Stud sells for 340,000gns and is bought by Anthony Stroud.

Stroud said: "He is a very nice horse, he is by Blue Point who has got off to a flying start. He breezed well, he is from Tally-Ho which has produced many a good horse. I am delighted to have purchased him. He has a good pedigree and is a nice neat two-year-old type, too."

The colt was bought as a foal by Tally-Ho for 70,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2021.

Dam Rebecca Rocks, trained by Henry Candy, claimed the scalp of the talented Glass Slippers, subsequent three-time Group and Grade 1 winner, in the Listed Land O'Burns Stakes. (19:04)

Lot 12: A & N Bloodstock gets its best sale ring result yet selling this son of Acclamation for 220,000gns to Leinster Bloodstock.

Nikki Scallan and Antonio Da Silva's Curragh operation is in its third year selling breeze up horses and a former graduate of the stable influenced the decision to buy this colt as a yearling last autumn for just £38,000.

"We had his full-sister last year, she made 110,000gns at this sale. She went onto Kevin Ryan's, was named Transfer Affection and has been placed four times in seven starts.

"We loved this colt, he is a bigger stronger horse and has a lot of attitude. He puts his head down and goes. We were pretty confident that we would sell ok as we had lots of vets, but did not expect that."

She added: "Antonio picked him and liked him at the sale, he showed perfectly every time and there is something about him that draws you to him."

The team has 15 horses to sell this year with Lot 92 to sell tonight and will be back to Newmarket for the Guineas breeze in May. (18:52)

Lot 2: is heading to Hong Kong, the son of Mehmas bought by Badgers Bloodstock for 220,000gns from Norman Williamson's Oak Tree Farm.

The two-year-old is out of Obama Rule (Danehill Dancer), the winner of the Group 3 Dance Design Stakes.

Tom Pritchard-Gordon, who was in charge of bidding and was standing in the back stairwell, said: "He is on his way to Hong Kong, he will go out there as a PPG, he came highly recommended by Norman, his sire is doing the business around the world and he is three from four from Hong Kong.

"It is a family we know well, we bought Twilight Payment for Lloyd Williams, we have had a bit of luck there. It is the same cross – Mehmas over Danehill Dancer – as a good horse in Hong Kong called Circuit Stellar who is with Tony Cruz."

He added: "He has got the size and scope to be good in Hong Kong and seems to have a bomb proof temperament. The family has worked around the world, it is a good old-fashioned Sangster family. He will go to George Peckham's for a couple of months and ship out."

Oak Tree Farm consigned the Classic-winning Craven Breeze Up graduate Native Trail, bought by Godolphin for 210,000gns in 2021. (18:26)

Lot 427: Brentford Hope, who has won three times on the Flat, finished placed three times in Group race company and has a BHA Flat mark of 102, has been bought with a jumping career in mind, Ed Bailey purchasing on behalf of rookie trainer Harry Derham, who is based in Lambourn.

The gelding, previously trained by Richard Hughes, also in Lambourn, has had three runs over hurdles and finished second all three starts. He has been allotted a BHA hurdles mark of 114.

Bailey said: "This is a nice, scopey horse and Harry saw him yesterday. Brentford Hope has been a high-class performer on the Flat and has run well over hurdles so far, bumping into some decent performers and the form is looking good. He should progress over hurdles and he is for sale."

He is the best runner to date out of Miss Raven (Raven's Pass), a half-sister to the Middleton Stakes (G2) and Sandown Classic (G2) winner Beautiful Romance (New Approach). (16:09)

Lot 424: "I underbid her as a yearling," said Nick Bradley after buying Pink Haze, a daughter of Lope De Vega and out of the Xaar mare Xaarienne, for 50,000gns today. "She is by Lope De Vega and I have had a bit of luck with the sire, it is a happening family and there are two more by the sire to come."

Of covering plans, he outlined: "She might be going to Bayside Boy."

Pink Haze made 67,000gns as a yearling when bought by SackvilleDonald, and was sold today by trainer David Simcock's Trillium Place Stables.

The 2019-born filly is a half-sister to See The Rose (Kendargent), winner of the Prix Six Perfections (G3) and third placed in the Prix de Sandringham (G2), as well as to the Listed winner Xaarino and the Group-placed Mont Kiara.

The 2021 Lope De Vega daughter of Xaarienne made €320,000 last autumn sold as a yearling and bought by China Horse Club, while See The Rose was purchased as a wildcard entry at last year's Tattersalls July Sale (Lot 271A) by London Thoroughbred Services for 500,000gns. (15:55)

Lot 410: Abdullah Salman Hamoud Alsaba buys Mohatu (Roaring Lion) for 80,000gns from Jamie Railton.

Formerly owned by Qatar Racing and trained by William Haggas, the three-year-old colt has won twice in January – at Lingfield at the beginning of the month and at Southwell on January 21. Both wins came over a mile. In between those two victories he took a second place at Lingfield over 1m2f.

"He has been bought to race in Saudi Arabia. I now have seven horses and I will own and train him. He’s an improving horse with good form. The programme is expanding in Saudi Arabia and it is thriving. The [racing] surface is very good, which is so important for the horses," said Abdullah Salman Al Sabah.

Mohatu's dam Tiger Eye (Frankel) is a half-sister to the Group 2 Prix du Gros-Chene winner Spirit Quartz, the Sapphire Stakes (G2) winner Caspian Prince and the Derby Italiano (G2) winner Tuscan Glaze.

She is also a half-sister to Contrary, the dam of Irishcorrespondent / Exultant, twice a champion stayer in Hong Kong and winner of the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, the Hong Kong Vase (G1), twice the Champions & Cater Cup (G1) and the Hong Kong Gold Cup (G1). He was also placed 19 times, twice in Hong Kong Group 1 races. (15:39)

Lot 409: a very happy syndicate were delighted with its 75,000gns purchase of Tenjin (Night Of Thunder), a winning chestnut gelding from Marco Botti

Owner Jon Thompson of the buying group said: "He wants bit of time, and he is going to be run in association with the new wine bar in the town, Gee Gee's Wine Bar. I think there is about 17 of us involved in this horse now, and he goes to John Ryan."

Bloodstock agent Jamie Piggott assisted with the purchase.

Tenjin, who is BHA rated 85 and won at Kempton in October off 72, has run four times since and has finished in the first four on all four starts.

The three-year-old gelding, who is BHA rated 82, is out of the two-year-old winner Notary and is from the family of the Lockinge Stakes (G1) winner Virtual, the Coventry Stakes (G1) winner Iceman and the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte (G2) winner Fighting Irish. (15:28)

Lot 401A: Today's only wildcard Bluff offered by Robert Cowell Racing makes 35,000gns and is bought by Eoin Sullivan.

"He is to transfer to Saudi Arabia," said Sullivan. "He will suit racing in the country, and looks as though stretch to a mile and there is a bit of improvement to come. he is a nice physical, very unexposed and has done little wrong in his two starts to date."

Bluff was bred by Nick Wood and is by The Gurkha. He won on his last start when successful at Chelmsford in January over 5f.

He is first foal out of Blodwyn (Medicean), whose dam Rotunda (Pivotal) is a half-sister to Spacious, winner of the Windsor Forest Stakes (G2) and a Group 1 runner-up in the 1,000 Guineas, the Falmouth Stakes and the Matron Stakes. (15:03)

Lot 366: Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah buys Uncle from East Everleigh for 58,000gns.

The son of Harry Angel has run five times and finished placed twice and he is unlucky not to have a "1" by his name – he was beaten just a head in maiden at Doncaster at the end of the Flat season.

He is BHA rated 78 and is out of Heliograph (Ishiguru), a half-sister to Prolific (Compton Place), winner of the Richmond Stakes (G2), third in the July Stakes (G2) and the Norfolk Stakes (G2). (14:29)

Lot 369: the East Everleigh Stables / Richard Hannon draft sells Bailey Gate (Shamardal) for 40,000gns to Hamad Ahmad al Jehani.

The 80-rated chestnut three-year-old colt has finished in the places three times in eight starts, but has yet to win.

He is a first foal out of the 6f two-year-old winner Castleacre (Exceed And Excel). She is a half-sister to the 1m2f Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes winner Queen's Best, who is the dam of Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Queen's Trust, and to the Listed winner Urban Castle. She is the dam of the three-time Grade 1 winner Domestic Spending. (14:21)

Lot 354: patience has been rewarded for Tim and Gill Bostwick of Biddestone Stud, the couple successfully buying Rosa Del Rio for 52,000gns.

When asked of plans for the Fastnet Rock filly, Tim Bostwick laughed: "We don't really have a plan as yet, we'd got used to not being able to buy anything! We have been trying to buy a mare since the autumn.

"This is a lovely filly, she will let down into a beautiful broodmare, she has a fantastic back page and, if anything, we are possibly thinking of sending her to Palace Pier.

"It looks like an active page, and hopefully in 12 months' time we will have a lovely foal."

"She is a roomy mare, she is nice and wide, and is good walker," added Gill Bostwick. "She will come back to us in Wiltshire, we have the empty mares at home with us and the pregnant mares foal down at Barton Stud."

The purchase takes the Biddestone broodmare band to 15 and the stud's first foal of 2023 is due any minute – a Starspangledbanner filly who is a three-quarters sister to Millisle.

Rosa Del Rio is out of the black-type mare Hibiscus (Galileo), whose 2021 foal, a colt by Siyouni, was sold to Hong Kong Jockey Club for €300,000. Hibiscus is an own-sister to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner Line Of Duty, and a half-sister to the Group 3-placed Onassis and the Group 2-placed Secret State. They are all out of Jacqueline Quest (Rock Of Gibraltar), winner of the 1,000 Guineas before being demoted to second spot in the stewards' room. (13:53)

Lot 306: Najd Stud buys a fifth horse this week at the February Sale, going to 22,000gns for the Clive Cox-trained Acai, a son of Kodi Bear and a winner since the catalogue was published.

His dam Dazzling Valentine, who won six races and was placed an amazing 28 times when trained by Alan Bailey, is a half-sister to Hallelujah, winner of the Garrowby Stakes (L) and third in the Summer Stakes (G3) and Cleves Stakes (L). (13:08)

Lot 303 : Garner, a three-year-old by Recorder and out of Dawn Glory (Oasis Dream), is sold by Malcolm Bastard to Blandford Bloodstock for 30,000gns.

The gelding is a grandson of the Listed winner Fairy Godmother (Fairy King), the dam of the Australian Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) winner Kingdom Of Fife (Kingmambo), and from the family of the Group 2 and Grade 2 winner Blueprint, the dual Group 1 winner Ask, and the Group 1-placed Know It All.

Owned and bred by The Queen, Garner is winner of one race from just two starts for trainer Harry and Roger Charlton. (12:52)

Lot 260: Brookhouse Racing, which bought a number of yearlings at Tattersalls last year to go into trainer rookie trainer Ben Brookhouse, buys the unraced Frankel three-year-old Chaloner for 25,000gns.

The colt is a half-brother to Biographer, winner of the Listed Noel Murless Stakes and runner-up in the Long Distance Cup (G2), while his dam Reflective (Seeking The Gold) is a close-relation to the champion European juvenile Hector Protector and the champion European three-year-old filly Bosra Sham.

Lot 176: Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock buys Moon De Vega for 98,000gns. She is by Lope De Vega and out of the winning Azamour mare Lunesque.

Moon De Vega won once as a two-year-old and went on to finish fourth in the Hoppings Stakes (G3) and the Chester Oaks (L).

Coleman said: "She has been bought as a broodmare for a British breeder, she will be bred commercially. She was a very smart racehorse and has a great back pedigree. Lope De Vega and Azamour are two broodmare sires I really like, I think she has a lot of quality, is a good walker."

She was sold by Jamie Railton Bloodstock. (17:33)

Lot 169: First Snowfall by Dubawi and out of Flying Cloud (Storming Home) is sold by The Castlebridge Consignment for 68,000gns.

She is bought by Michael Donohoe, who said: "It is a great family and she will go back to Ireland and a stallion decision will be made. She won't stay in training, she has won has race now.

"It is a nice proper deep family, there is a stallion on the page and with some international runners on the pedigree. She might end up in Australia in time. She is by Dubawi, who should make up into a proper broodmare sire." (17:15)

Lot 156: "Mystery Play has been bought for an old client and goes to the Group 1-winning trainer, William Jarvis," said Cormac McCormack. "She is a very nice filly, she came highly recommended by Godolphin.

A daughter of Golden Horn, she is a half-sister to the Group 2 winner Usherette, and the Listed winners Magnetic Charm and Show Day. It is the further family of the dual Group 1 winner Vespone and the Group 1-placed Purple Moon.

McCormack spent 72,000gns on the bay filly. (16:44)

Lot 140: Apache Spark, a winner since the catalogue was published, is bought by Najd Stud for 46,000gns.

She is a three-year-old filly by Sioux Nation and was sold by Jamie Railton for owner Marc Chan and trainer Ralph Beckett.

"She is just a really nice individual, was 160,000gns yearling, Ralph has done a great job with her and getting a good foundation into her," said Railton. "She has been bought by a really good organisation, I hope she is successful for them. She looks on an upward curve, and maybe upper her in distance is probably what she needs, very athletic horse and very likeable, the future looks in front of her." (16:16)

Lot 130: Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland and David Cox of Baroda Stud went head to head for Now Or Never, the Classic and Group 1-placed daughter of Bushranger and winner of the Kingston Stakes (G2) at Flemington, as well as the Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial (G3). She is a half-sister to the two-time Group 1 winner Fairyland and from the family of the July Cup (G1) winner Dream Ahead. Her second dam Land Of Dreams (Cadeaux Genereux) won the Flying Childers (G2).

Donohoe was the successful bidder at 250,000gns.

"She is for an existing client, she will be foaled down in Ireland and then we can decided what to do with her," reported Donohoe. "She might be covered southern hemisphere time, or could head to Australia. My client has mares in Europe and Australia, so can look at options."

Of the attractions of the bay mare, Donohoe outlined: "She was obviously a high-class race filly herself and she is from a proper fast family. Her late cover [June 2] and the fact that she missed year might be the reason why she has not made quite what she might have, hopefully she might be a bit of value.

Of stallion options, he said: "With her pedigree she could go to any stallion, she is an outcross, she is a good type and a strong mare. Physically, she will suit most stallions, she is a neat mare. We will probably bred her back to speed, she had plenty of speed herself, even though she stayed a mile." (15:56)

Lot 128: Hugo Merry for Blue Diamond Stud spends 140,000gns on Queenhope (Kendargent), sold in-foal to New Bay on an April cover.

A dual winner as a three-year-old, Queenhope is a half-sister to Kenhope, winner of the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte, runner-up in the Coronation Stakes (G1), third in the Prix Rothschild (G1), and twice fourth in the Matron Stakes (G1).

She is out of the Chato mare Bedford Hope and was sold by Barton Sales on behalf of a partnership.

Merry said: "This mare is a complete outcross, and will be a very easy mare to mate. We have seen her Galiway yearling at Barton Stud, and she is a very very good first foal. Queenhope is a very commercial mare, and I know the family well through my client Dr Poonawalla."

He added: "Blue Diamond was keen to buy into this Grey Sovereign line, it is so hard to buy interesting pedigrees now and ones that are a complete outcross. This family also goes back to Pat O'Kelly's wonderful Flame Of Tara line.

"Physically, Queenhope is correct and she has plenty of room to carry a good foal – but really it is the quality of her first foal that really sold her to us. She is carrying to New Bay now, he is a €75,000 cover." (15:50)

Lot 93: the Barton Sales-offered two-year-old colt by Galileo, offered on behalf of Lady Ogden, is bought for 140,000gns by the father and son team of Con and Neil Sands under their Bronsan Racing banner. The colt was purchased via telephone with Jason Singh bidding on their behalf, the Sands family team out battling the O'Callaghans of Tally-Ho Stud.

The April-born colt is out of Messias Da Silva (Tale Of The Cat) and is a half-brother to Amazing Maria (Mastercraftsman), winner of the Falmouth Stakes (G1) and Prix Rothschild (G1) for the late Sir Robert Ogden.

After the purchase, Sands Jnr, again via telephone, said: "They are becoming a rare breed these Galileos, and obviously he has been one of the greatest stallions of the modern era and my father, who is the principal of our team, has had this type of horse as a target for a long time. We are really delighted to have been able to close out at the price we did, he could have made double that in Book 1!

"We have a fantastic network of helpers and Hubie de Burgh of De Burgh Equine assisted us with this purchase."

The colt will now be making his way to Ireland, and Sands said: "The plan is to get him home, and we have great trust in Irish trainers. We have a good body of our stable with Joseph O'Brien and we will make a plan over the next few weeks. We are very excited to add him to our stable, which is growing exponentially."

Of the Bronsan Racing equine string, Sands outlined: "We have horses in training in Australia and Britain, though the majority are in training in Ireland. We also have a couple of NH prospects, and we are excited about them for the coming season and are looking ahead to Cheltenham, but the primary focus for us is Flat racing. We have about 40 horses in training, horses both owned in partnerships and fully by ourselves."

Sands concluded: "The dream for this horse is for him to become a top racehorse and then a stallion prospect – you have got have that dream, but sometimes we can all be afraid to dream!" (15:01)

Lot 30: Keen Melody, an unraced three-year-old filly by Le Havre, is bought by Meah Lloyd Bloodstock for Hunscote Stud for 35,000gns.

She was sold by the Royal Studs and is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Set To Music, winner of the Listed Galtres Stakes and the Warwickshire Oaks, and a half-sister to Eightsome Reel, who finished second in the Fairway Stakes (L).

Set To Music had a Galileo filly in 2021 and is due to Almanzour this spring. (12:25)

Lot 7: Lope Y Fernandez paraded earlier today as one of the stallions on show in the TBA Stallion Parade, and Retrouvailles, sold by Saint Wendred's Stables (Mrs I. Gansera-Leveque), has been bought in his name – Lope Y Fernandez and Whitsbury Manor Stud written down as the Iffraaj mare's purchaser.

The winner of one race over a mile at Brighton, she is a half-sister to Nisreen (Raven's Pass), winner of the Prix Dahlia (L) and runner-up in the Balanchine Stakes (G2) at Meydan.

Second dam is Alshadiyah, winner of the Firth Of Clyde Stakes (L) and daughter of the champion two-year-old and 1,000 Guineas winner Shadayid
