Lot 41:
Stuart Boman of Blandford Bloodstock and Annabel Neasham Racing get an early result, the duo going to 70,000gns for the Baroda Stud-offered Akkadian Emperor (Churchill).
The colt has run three times and has finished seventh three times, last time in a field of 23 at The Curragh, and the Joseph O'Brien-trained two-year-old has been given an opening handicap mark of 86.
Of course, Boman and the Australian-based, British-born trainer Neasham have done so well sourcing horses at the Autumn HIT Sale – their past purchases headlined by the four-time Group 1 winner Zaaki, who was sourced at this sale in 2020.

At the conclusion of Book 4 of the 2023 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony commented:
“More than 165 million guineas has been spent on yearlings at Tattersalls in the past few weeks which, although some way below last year’s runaway record-breaking returns, is a substantial sum that has only been bettered once.
“There have been some memorable highlights in amongst those impressive sums, including the 2,000,000gns October Book 1 sale-topping Frankel colt, who is the highest-priced yearling to be sold in Europe this year, the 725,000gns Dubawi filly, who headed Book 2 and is the second highest-priced filly ever sold at Europe’s largest yearling sale, and some astounding pinhooking triumphs throughout the past two weeks which, as ever, reflect the professionalism and commitment of the consignors.
“The pre-eminent status of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales owes everything to the support of the breeders and consignors, primarily from Britain and Ireland, but also from France, Germany and Italy, who entrust us with the cream of the European yearling crop year after year.
"Evidence of this support and the peerless quality of the yearlings is to be seen on racecourses around the world with Tattersalls yearlings consistently winning at the highest level on the global stage. To date in 2023 Tattersalls yearlings bought for as little as 5,000gns have won Group 1 races in Britain, Ireland and France, as well as Australia, Hong Kong and the US. It is this unrivalled level of achievement which brings buyers to yearling sales at Tattersalls from throughout the world, alongside the domestic British and Irish buyers for whom the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales are unmissable.
“While the total 2023 yearling spend at Tattersalls has been the second highest ever, we should recognise that there has been a recalibration from the dizzy heights of last year and we should pay heed to this.
"With specific regard to Books 3 and 4 it has not been ideal to have coincided with the top-class racing at Newmarket, but this will not be the case again for the foreseeable future. With a wider perspective, our industry faces challenges which we all acknowledge.
"Nevertheless we should not lose sight of the fact that we have an outstanding internationally admired product, much of which has been showcased over the past two weeks at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales and which we will continue to work tirelessly to promote.”

Lot 2069:
the Expert Eye colt pinhooked by Fiona Marner and David Sumpter here at the December Foal Sale for just 3,500gns is resold today for 16,500gns, bought by Adam Kirby.
The colt is out of the 100-rated Electric Feel, who finished second in the Oh So Sharp Stakes (G3). She is the dam of four winners and a half-sister to the speedy European champion three-year-old filly Glass Slippers (Dream Ahead), winner of the Flying Five Stakes (G1), the Prix de l'Abbaye (G1) and the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1).
"I think the reason we bought him because of his Mum," explained Sumpter, who has a small pinhooking interest each year. "She was rated 100, was Group 3-placed and a Listed winner, and at the price that we paid he thought he was a steal.
"We were relying here on the pedigree, and Fiona, who as always, has done a wonderful job with him."
He laughed: "It gives me a bit to pinhook with this year, a bit to play with! I have set the bar a bit high now with an increase of 500 per cent!"
Marner added: "It is all about having some Fun with a capital F, and we did think we might top this sale!"
Adam Kirby purchased the colt with a breeze-up campaign in mind, and it is his third purchase this week.
"They are going to breeze, hopefully," said Kirby. "We have a breaking and pre-training business and it is nice for me and Megan to have a small interest in a few that we can prepare and bring to the next level. They will know their jobs, they won't be breezing unless they are ready. We will hope for the best, but there is not one I don't like. It is something we enjoy doing, and it is a little bit of fun."
Of this Expert Eye colt, he said: "I really like him, he is a little bit feminine through his body but the breeze-up is six months' away and he has time to mature. He will be broken, have a holiday and then get back to work. He seems a very well-mannered horse, he is a very nice walker and with a reasonable pedigree."
(14:47)
Lot 2028:
the bay filly out of the 11-time winner Sunshineandbubbles (Multiplex) is bought by Amazing Racing for 10,000gns.
Sold by Mickley Stud, she is another by the farm's young sire Massaat and is the first foal out of the good racemare.
"We are delighted how the Massaats have been received," said Richard Kent of Mickley Stud. " David Loughnane Racing gave 26,000gns for the Massaat colt [Lot 1998] in Book 3 today."
(14:15)
Lot 2016:
the Belardo colt and out of Safiyna (Sinndar) is bought by trainer Laura Mongan for 9,000gns.
From Glebe Farm Stables, the colt is a half-brother to five winners, including Natural Colour (Exceed And Excel), a stakes winner in the US.
It is the deep family of the Group 1 winners Sageburg, Sagamix, Sagacity, Japan and Mogul
(13:52)
Lot 2006:
Welsh trainer David Evans spends 12,000gns on Mickley Stud's Massaat filly.
She is out of Piranah (Exceed And Excel), the dam of three winners, headed by the Listed-placed and 95-rated Go On Go On Go On (Medicean).
Massaat (Teofilo) stands at Mickley and was the winner of the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes.

Her top-level wins came in the Champion Stakes (G1), the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) and the Hong Kong Cup (G1).
Simon Hope of Aston Mullins Stud purchased Lovers' Gait from Watership Down Stud and breeder Andrew Rosen for 75,000gns at Book 2 in 2017.

She was bought for 6,000gns by Jonathon Adams at the December Mares' Sale 2017. Bred by Adams and Niall O’Brien, this is her third foal – her first Enraged (Adaay) has won three races as a three and four-year-old.

She was sold by New Barn Farm Stables for breeder Fifehead Farms.

His top-priced yearling sold for 600,000gns – October Book 1's Lot 243, the colt out of Arcamist (Arcano) and a half-brother to Dragon Symbol (Cabel Bay), sold by Stauffenberg Bloodstock to Godolphin.
(10:53)
Lot 1919 :
the Commonwealth Cup (G1) winner Golden Horde, who was also twice Group 1 placed as a juvenile, has just had this one colt sell at Tattersalls this autumn, and he was bought by Middleham Park Racing for 35,000gns from Jamie Railton.
The colt's dam Habbat Reeh (Mastercraftsman), a half-sister to the stakes winner Boomshckerlacker (Dark Angel), was purchased in 2020 for €11,000 by Paul Nataf. By then she'd had her first foal – by No Nay Never and named Dhabab he was a dual winner at two and was placed second in the Superlative Stakes (G2) and fourth in the Mill Reef Stakes (G2).
"We loved him, thought he was a standout," said Tom Palin of Middleham Park. "He walked around there with a bit of presence. He goes to Eve Johnson Houghton, he’s our first horse with her and he’s a strong, racy, two-year-old sort looks to be the type that she’ll do well with. Golden Horde was such an impressive racehorse and his stock look racy. We’re delighted to get him."
Of this week's business, Palin added: "We’ve got stuck in. We got eight since the start of Book 1. It’s been competitive for the better lots and we’ve had to stretch a bit on some of them but it hasn’t been silly. It’s been sensible but strong. We’re delighted with what we’ve bought."
Consignor Railton said: "He is an athletic horse and so it wouldn't surprise me if he could run a bit. He is by a very good horse, has a proper pedigree, a fast page, and has been bought by a very good team in Middleham Park so he will get every chance."
This colt was bred by Thurso Limited and the mare had a colt by Ardad this spring and was covered by Night Of Thunder.
(10:30)
Lot 1915:
"My client wanted a grey filly and this is what she is!" said Henry Candy after going to 34,000gns for the filly sold by Overbury Stud. "I am delighted to have something by Too Darn Hot, the page is absolutely fine and she fits the bill."
The filly was bred by Overbury Stud and Dukes Stud, the mare Grey Mystere (Lethal Force) bought for €120,000 in 2021 carrying this foal.
"The mare was bought in-foal and the most important thing for us is that she has gone to a fabulous trainer and that gives her a really good chance, to get into a really good home like that you have to be thrilled," said Simon Sweeting of Overbury Stud.
The mare has a colt foal at foot by Night Of Thunder and is in-foal to Ghayyaith.
The first-season sire Too Darn Hot is due to be represented in the Dewhurst Stakes this afternoon – the Owen Burrows-trained Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes winner Alyanaabi lining up in the Group 1 field, the race due off at 2pm.

Lot 1835:
this colt by young sire Far Above is heading into training with James Tate, who trained the son of Farhh to win the Group 3 Palace House Stakes.
Tate, who was standing down the left-hand stairs and spent 70,000gns on the Q-Cross-consigned colt, said: "He is a lovely horse, he reminds me very much of his father. He is good sized, strong, he looks quick and looked particularly good up here in the ring. I am looking forward to seeing if he can go as fast as his daddy."
Tate is not necessarily expecting an early two-year-old career from this colt: "We will see how it goes. Far Above showed me a lot as a juvenile, but he did not run as a two-year-old, so we will just see how we go with this lad. I am sure he will be quick, and we are looking forward to breaking him in."
Tate has three yearlings by the sire in his stable.
Tate's training situation has recently changed and he added: "We are now an open yard, for many years we exclusively trained for Rabbah Bloodstock but now can train for anyone. We had a nice winner for Heart Of The South Racing last month, and a recent winner for Baileys Horse Feeds. We are looking forward to training for anyone who will have us! We are buying horses on spec, and sold some, it is a good opportunity and fun, it is an exciting new chapter."
(18:31)
Lot 1828:
consignor Susie Sands has brought along two lots for Book 3, and after selling a Sergei Prokofiev colt to Michael Dods for 37,000gns yesterday (Lot
1470), she sells the only lot in the catalogue by the Tara Stud-based sire River Boyne, a Grade 1 winner in the US and a son of Dandy Man, to Harrowgate Bloodstock for 28,000gns.
The colt is out of the unraced Kodiac mare Balrath Wood, a half-sister to two juvenile winners. Third dam is Lady Livius, the dam of the talented pair of Brown Sugar and Burnt Sugar, both winners of the Sirenia Stakes (G3).
"We are thrilled with that price," said Sands, the colt the top-priced by the sire so far. "We bought the dam from Mrs O’Kelly’s Kilcarn Stud and she’s bred a super first foal by the Grade 1 winner, River Boyne. This colt is really athletic and, hopefully, he can go on and show ability on the track. He has gone to the right trainer anyway and we’ll keep the fingers crossed now!"
She added: "It’s been a good year for us so far. We’ve sold a couple of pinhooks well, and the breeding mares are putting down good individuals which we hope will boost their pages."
(18:19)
Lot 1807:
Rathasker Stud set its goal this morning ... to bring 10 lots to the October Sale and successfully sell the whole draft.
The stud succeeds in its mission when offering the last of the draft this evening ... this colt by Saxon Warrior, out of Altruiste (Montjeu) and a half-brother to the Australia Listed winner Wyclif, is bought by to New Approach Bloodstock for 18,000gns.
Rathasker also sold all of the draft taken to this autumn's earlier Somerville Sale and so has sold 14 lots for a turnover of 599,000gns and an average price of 42,786gns at Tattersalls this year.

(17:07)
Lot 1768:
Maurice Burns of Rathasker Stud, ever the commercial stallion man, did not waste the deserved opportunity of some promo for his stallion Coulsty after selling this colt by the sire for 48,000gns to Ollie Pears / CCR.
"We had three by him catalogued in Book 3 – a filly made 60,000gns [Lot 1578] yesterday, this colt fetched 48,000gns, and another filly made 45,000gns [Lot 1675].," he said. "We are delighted with the way the stallion has been received. He has already proven he is a Group 1 stallion and people are remembering that and coming back.
"He had small crops and now he has big crops, and we hope he is going to go from strength to strength. They have good physicals, good minds and good bone; we delighted with the way they are selling."
Of this pedigree he recalled: "We bought the Diamonaka a long time ago and we kept a couple of daughters out of her and this mare Syamantaka (Clodovil) has now produced Grays Inn, who was fourth in Silken Glider Stakes (G3) the other day. The mare has proven she can get a good horse. She has full-sister at foot and is back in-foal to Coulsty."
Of trade he added: "We have sold everything we have brought here over the past two weeks and have just one left to go tonight [Lot 1807]. We have a good loyal band of trainers who like to buy our stock and we are very thankful to them."
Over the two weeks of the October Yearling Sale 2023 Rathasker has sold 13 lots for a turnover of 581,000gns and an average price of 44,692gns.
(12:31)
Lot 1739:
Middleham Park Racing is still at Tattersalls in force and the team goes to 42,000gns for this son of Australia, a half-brother to the Vintage Stakes (G3) third-placed Room Key. The colt was consigned by Baroda Stud.
Tim Palin of Middleham Park was given speaking duties after purchase and he said: "He is lovely colt, the stallion gets results, the mare has produced three very talented horses, he is probably as nice a horse we have seen in this session. We were deliberating and we went a bit more than we had planned. We have no trainer in mind as yet, we will have a chat and work out a plan."
When explaining the attraction of this colt, who has a bit more of a stamina influence in his pedigree, for Middleham Park, which is perhaps better known for speedy horses, Palin said: "We are mixing it up a bit, and buying a few horses with more middle-distance profiles as they have good residual value – if he gets to rating of 85 or 95, he could be worth a bit further down the line.
"He will probably go to a Newmarket trainer who will bring him along nice and steadily – probably give him a few handful of runs at two and train him essentially with a three-year-old career in mind."
He added: "We will be back for the sessions tonight and tomorrow looking for a few hidden diamonds."
(12:03)
Lot 1738:
from Lodge Park Stud and by Profitable, this filly goes to Richard Knight for 45,000gns.
She is out of Satin Kiss (Seeking The Gold), the Listed-placed own-sister to the Middle Park Stakes (G1) winner Lujain, the pair out of the Shadeed mare Satin Flower, winner of the Jersey Stakes (G3) and a runner-up in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (G1).
Richard Knight said: "She is a nice filly by Profitable and from Lodge Park – we bought Signora Cabello in Book 3 from the farm a few years ago. She won the Queen Mary – let's see if lightning can strike twice! She is also for John Quinn and has been bought on spec.
"Damien [Burns] really liked her and I have stayed to see her go through."
Lodge Park has sold 10 yearlings over the past two weeks for an average price of 179,750gns and a top price of 750,000gns.
(11:50)
Lot 1733:
Najd Stud buys a 15th yearling at the 2023 October Yearling Sale, three purchased so far in Book 3, when going to 90,000gns for this Pinatubo colt, bred by Rabbah and sold by Barton Stud.
There was plenty of interest in this colt from end users and breeze-up consignors, but Najad was successful with Johnny Collins the underbidder.
Consignor Tom Blain of Barton Stud said: "This colt was raised on the farm. The sire is going well, and they seem to improve a lot from foal to yearlings. I am delighted Najd Stud has bought him. We have six or seven left, sold almost everything."
(11:40)
Lot 1706:
the Holy Roman Emperor colt, the first foal out of Princess Lahar (Australia), bought by Rathasker Stud at the Tattersalls December Sale 2021 for 42,000gns, sells today for 28,000gns to Enrica Baragiola Sagam SRL.
The dam is a daughter of Lady Lahar (Fraam), a Group 3 winner and stakes-placed three times. She is dam of Jallota (Rock Of Gibraltar), winner of the Prix du Pin (G3), a Group 1 runner-up in the Premio Vittorio di Capua (G1) and multiple group race placed, the Listed winner Classic Legend (Galileo) and the Group 2 and Group 1-placed Rawdaa (Teofilo).

Lot 1662:
the top lot for today's first Book 3 session has come late in the day – this colt by Too Darn Hot is bought by Ted Durcan for Richard Hughes at 130,000gns. Hazelwood Bloodstock was the consignor.
"Richard and team had seen the horse this afternoon, as I had, we all loved him – he is a smashing big horse and the sire is red hot," said Durcan. "I know the family extremely well from my time in the Middle East, which helped – Mike De Kock and Sheikh Khalifa had the whole family.
"Richard was adamant that we were not to leave the sale without him, we spent plenty on him but he was a horse that Richard really wanted. I respect Adrian O'Brien, he is a great producer and has a marvellous nursery, he was adamant that this is a horse we should have.
"We are over the moon to have this horse and there is no owner for the horse as yet."
The colt is a first foal out of the winner Moohareeba (Invincible Spirit), a daughter of Mahbooba, a champion juvenile filly in South Africa and winner of the Golden Slipper (G1). She is dam of two black-type winners in the UK – Mootasadir amd Dubai Warrior.

Lot 1644:
the Q-Cross Stables-consigned filly by Invincible Spirit makes 115,000gns, bought by Olivia Mackey on behalf of trainer Joseph O'Brien and Justin Casse.
The filly was pinhooked as a foal for €23,000 by today's consignor Luke Coen of Q-Cross Stables.
"It is a brilliant result," said Coen. "A couple of months ago when I knew she was coming here, I called her 'the queen of Book 3'. It was a bold statement to make, but she definitely is the queen now!
"She was a €23,000 purchase and I came out from buying her and I could not believe that I had. I usually get beaten in the ring, but this time it worked out. As horses go, you could not dream of a much better run. For a May foal to be as mature in the mind as she is, it is something to recommend her and she made my job look very easy today.
Coen, still emotional after the successful sale, said: "It is a bit breathtaking, my family is very horsey but I do this on my own and when you get a touch like this.... I have been doing this under my own banner for two years, but I have had a few there with Francis Quinn, who has helped me an awful long way, and Anthony Ryan at home – two very good local fellas. Without them I probably wouldn't be here."
Mackey was also clearly a little emotional after the bidding had concluded and laughed: "I get so nervous!"
She had been left in charge of proceedings at Tattersalls, and outlined: "I saw her this morning and loved her, and sent her details on to Joseph and he loved her too.
"She walks out there, she has a beautiful walk. There is nothing to knock about her, she is a May foal so there is plenty of room for improvement. The consignor has done a great job. I had no idea what she'd go for – I spotted the athlete and sent on the details."
The filly is out of the Galileo mare Mardie Gras, who was unraced but is dam of two winners from two runners. She is out of the dual Group 1-placed Acatenango mare Midnight Angel, dam of the Listed-placed Midnight Game. The family stretches under the third dam to the multiple Group 1 winner in Japan Eishin Flash.
Mardie Gras has a colt foal by Blue Bresil and was covered by Crystal Ocean.

Lot 1608:
James Ferguson Racing and Kind Bloodstock spend 55,000gns on the filly by Mohaather and out of the two-time winner Listed-placed Jufoon, sold by Jamie Railton.

Lot 1612:
Kevin Philippart de Foy as underbidder on the earlier Tom Goff purchased daughter of Make Believe (Lot
1444), and the young Newmarket-based trainer gets the bidding his way when purchasing this daughter of the popular Too Darn Hot at 45,000gns.
Sold by Mountarmstrong Stud, the filly is out of the three-time winner Karijini (Siyouni) from the Meon Stud Valley family of the champion Stagecraft, a son of the Group 2 Prix de l'Opera winner Bella Colora.

Lot 1598:
Amanda Skiffington purchased Havana Gold at the 2011 October Book 1 Sale from Crimbourne Stud for 80,000gns, and the son of Teofilo went on to claim Group 1 glory with victory in the Prix Jane Prat.
However, perhaps more significantly he is sire one of the most exciting young stallions currently standing in Europe, Havana Grey.
Sadly, Havana Gold died earlier this year, but he has 14 lots catalogued in Book 3, and Skiffington, alongside Beckhampton Stables, invests 58,000gns in the Redgate Bloodstock-offered colt out of the Listed winner Indignant (Gold Away), who has bred three winners from five foals of racing age. She is a daughter of Moiava, a juvenile champion in France in 1998.

Lot 1580:
Norman Court Stud is sticking with a family it knows well.... the farm spends 52,000gns on the Showcasing filly out of Greach, sold by Whitsbury Manor Stud.
The filly is a full-sister to Miss Show Off, who is owned by Norman Court and is the winner of one race as a juvenile this year. The filly was bought by the Wiltshire farm for 65,000gns at the Tattersalls Somerville Sale last year, while Whitsbury Stud purchased Greach (Gregorian) as a broodmare prospect here in December 2019, paying 25,000gns for the then three-year-old Italian Listed winner.
Miss Show Off is her only runner so far and she has a filly foal at foot by Havana Grey and was covered this spring by the farm's young sire.

She is out of the Kyllachy filly Grandmas Dream, the dam of four winners from six runners, including Savannah's Dream, who finished second in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes (L).
Grandmas Dream is a half-sister to Tremar, who won the Prix Eclipse (G3). She was purchased by Rathasker at the December Mares Sale in 2015 from Kirtlington Stud at 25,000gns.
It is the family of the Group 1 runner-up Lady In Waiting and the US Grade 1 winner Lea.

Lot 1535:
the bay filly by Far Above, one of only two fillies by the sire catalogued in Book 3, makes 65,000gns, bought by Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock.
"I was fortunate enough to buy Far Above at the breeze-ups for Sheikh Rashid, I think this filly is lovely, I saw her in the pouring rain this morning, she really stood out for me, there are lots of bits of her father about her. I have bought her for Sheikh Rashid's brother, "said Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock.
"Sheikh Rashid has supported the stallion and about three or four foals by him, and the family is excited about the stallion. He was an extremely fast horse and this filly looks very quick too."
The filly was bred by Cooneen Stables out of the Kodiac mare Disko, the dam of two winners, including Corazon, winner of the Prix d'Arenburg (G3).

Lot 1519:
Tony O'Callaghan of Tally-Ho Stud, wearing his breeze-up consignor's hat, purchases this Earthlight colt for 95,000gns.
“We’ll get him home and see how he performs before we make a plan, but he’ll probably come back here in April,” said O’Callaghan. “We liked him from the word go; sharp, a good walker, nicely balanced. We’ve sold one by Earthlight that went quite well and he’s getting nice stock. They look racy and behave well. This colt is from a good family too and Con Harrington is a good breeder.
Of the market this autumn he said: “If you got it right it’s been very good, if you have a nice horse then you’ll get well paid. You have to have know your horse, value correctly and not live in dreamland.”
Tally-Ho Stud has now finished selling its Tattersalls yearling draft for 2023. Across the Tattersalls Somerville Sale, the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale and the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tally-Ho Stud has sold 70 lots for an average price of 100,143gns.
