Lot 1640:
Blandford Bloodstock signed for Bristol Bay, but it was Tim Hyde Snr who out-played owner-breeder Stuart Stuckey and bloodstock agent Ghislain Bozo to buy the 10-year-old mare by Montjeu.
Hyde had to spend 400,000gns to secure the good-looking mare, who is carrying an April covering to Lope De Vega.
Bristol Bay is already the dam of a Lope de Vega Listed winner and Group 2 placed runner in Godolphin's Bay Of Poets. He was a 400,000gns October Book 1 yearling in 2015.
She also has an as-yet unraced two-year-old filly by Lope De Vega named Bay Light, a yearling filly by Power and a 2018 colt by New Bay.
Bristol Bay was bred by Gestut Ammerland and is from a pedigree long developed by the farm.
She is a half-sister to Burning Heights, the dam of Blue De Vega, Lope De Vega's Group 3 Killavullen Stakes winner, while her third dam is Britannia, a one-time champion older mare in Europe. Her leading daughter was Borgia, a champion three-year-old in Germany, and her top colt was Boreal, a winner of the Deutsches Derby (G1) and the Coronation Cup (G1).
"She is a lovely mare and very well covered," said Hyde. "We'll know if we have made the right decision here tonight when we get the foal!
"She is coming back to Camas Park and we will make some plans then."
(19:39)
Lot 1605:
The Miniver Rose, sold by Godolphin and in-foal to Dubawi, is bought by Paul Hensey for 300,000gns buying on behalf of RIFA Mustang Europe Ltd, a Chinese organisation building a European-based broodmare band.
"She is a Group 2 winner and has plenty going on in the family," said Hensey. "She has a filly by Dubawi with John Gosden as well as with James Tate. There is a lot to run for her, and ongoing plans will be open-ended."
The Miniver Rose won the Park Hill Stakes (G2) and is a half-sister to Belle De Crecy (Rock Of Gibraltar), winner of the Blandford Stakes (G2) and placed in the British Champion Fillies/mares Stakes (G1).
(18:16)
Lot 1597:
trainer John Berry, on duty at Tattersalls in a bloodstock agent's role today, buys Tobacco Bay, a winning daughter of Dark Angel for 220,000gns.
"She is for an Asian client who breeds horses in Australia," said Berry, sat with his wife Emma, who was taking a break from the press bench.
"Tobacco Bay will foal down in Britain, and as she is on a reasonably early cover, she should be able to travel to the southern hemisphere once the foal is weaned and be covered in Australia," he said when reporting on plans for the four-year-old bay mare.
"She has a fast pedigree - she is a half-sister to two Group 3-winning sprinters – so that should be a suitable profile for Australia.
"And as a daughter of Dark Angel that was very appealing too. He is already done well as a broodmare sire in Europe, and he did not shuttle to the southern hemisphere so there are not many by him in that part of the world.
"She has a good outcross pedigree so should be easy to plan for moving forwards."
Tobacco Bay is in-foal to the Coolmore young sire Churchill and is a half-sister to Glamorous Spirit (Invincible Spirit) and Just Glamorous (Arcano).
(17:53)
Lot 1590:
the Exchange Rate mare Cash In The Hand makes 260,000gns, bought by Mick Flanagan.
She is in-foal to the leading French-based sire Siyouni, who is due to stand at a fee of €100,000 in 2019, the first year he will be priced at a six-figure sum.
"She will go to Ireland, foal down and we will probably see if she can slot into No Nay Never," said Flanagan.
She is a half-sister to the Group 2 winner Lord Admiral, to the Listed placed Sharp Sailor and to Lynnwood Chase, the dam of Cannock Chase, winner of the Canadian International (G1), and to Pisco Sour, winner of the Prix Eugene Adam (G2).
Under the second dam is Action The Day, a champion two-year-old in the US and Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner, Drefong, a champion US sprinter, and Bitty Girl, a champion two-year-old filly in England in 1973.
She is unraced and was consigned by John Troy.
(17:35)
Lot 1572 and Lot 1577:
both offered by The Castlebridge Consignment make over 200,000gns – Strumming, a daughter of Camelot, is bought by Mick Flanagan for 210,000gns, while Lastroseofsummer goes to Outsider Bloodstock for 230,000gns.
Strumming is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Magnificent Song (Unbridled's Song) and three further black-type horses. She is in-foal to Mastercraftsman on a February cover.
Lastroseofsummer, by Haafhd, has had two stakes runners – the Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs winner Melesina (Dark Angel), and White Mocha (Lope De Vega), second in the Craven Stakes (G3).
She is in-foal to Speightstown on a May cover.
(17:12)
Lot 1570:
Kodyanna, the Kodiac Group 3 Prix du Cabourg runner-up, sells for 240,000gns. Meridian International bought the two-year-old filly on behalf of Haras de la Perelle.
Offered by Whatton Manor Stud on behalf of the Cool Silk Partnership, she is out of the Dick Poole Stakes (L) runner-up and Cherry Hinton Stakes (G3) third, Jadanna. She is also the dam of Darkanna (Dark Angel), winner of the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy (L), who was also second, like her half-sister, in the Prix du Cabourg (G3).
(16:40)
Lot 1568:
"One of the partners has bought out the other," said Ed Sackville of Sackville Donald after going to 260,000gns for the three-year-old daughter of New Day Dawn.
"She will probably race on and the hope would be to get more black-type. She is a lovely filly from a lovely family."
By Dawn Approach, she is out of the Listed-placed Roo and is a half-sister to nine winners, including Roodeye, the dam of the dual Grade 2 winner Prize Exhibit, and Mohaather, this year's Horris Hill Stakes (G3) winner.
(16:33)
Lot 1553:
You Only You, a winning Galileo mare in-foal Caravaggio, goes to Yulong Investments for 240,000gns. She was bought in association with BBA Ireland.
Sam Fairgray, the chief operating officer for Yulong Australia, said: "She is a lovely mare by Galileo, and is just what we want as we build the broodmare band for Yulong.
"Her full-brother Sovereign has been stakes placed at two, and she is in-foal to Caravaggio, whom we have bred mares to in Australia.
"She will stay in the UK and foal down and then we will make plans."
Sovereign was fourth in the Beresford Stakes (G2) and, since the catalogue was published, finished third in the Eyrefield Stakes (G3).
She was sold by Bugley Stud and it is the further family of Balanchine, the 1994 champion three-year-old filly in Europe.
(16:06)
Lot 1533:
Goleta, the half-sister to Chineur (Fasliyev), the King's Stand Stakes (G2) winner, is bought by Richard Knight Bloodstock for 210,000gns.
She is by Royal Applause, and is herself the dam of two stakes performers: Dibajj, the Group 3 winner of the Prix du Petit Couvert, and Black Sea, the Listed winner of the Prix Francois Mathet and by Dubai Destination.
(15:46)
This
first draft from Juddmonte achieved an average price of 173,182gns and an aggregate of 1,905,000gns for 11 horses sold.
(15:18)
Lot 1528:
Aurora Gold, the Frankel half-sister to the champion older mare Midday, a six-time Group 1 winner, is bought by Bertrand Le Metayer Bloodstock for 550,000gns.
Stephen Hillen was underbidder, while Jono Mills went a long way into the bidding process, but it was the Frenchman, standing on the stairs, who succeeded.
"She is for a new French breeder," said Le Metayer, "who wanted to get involved in this family.
"The mare is scopey and is in-foal to Kingman – with him, and Kingmambo as her broodmare sire, it should offer some size to this foal.
"The hope is the page will get even darker – we counted eight fillies under the first dam, which will only make this page grow."
Aurora Gold is unraced, but is a full-sister to Sun Maiden, the Frankel daughter who finished third in the Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) and who stays in training for 2019.
(15:16)
Lot 1527:
Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock buys Fine Time from Juddmonte on behalf of Noel O'Callaghan's Mountarmstrong Stud. The pair had to stretch to 420,000gns to secure the daughter of Dansili.
"It is a phenomenal pedigree," said Coleman, adding, "it is one of the best in the book. She is also in-foal to Kingman, who has had a great start."
Fine Time is an own-sister to the Group 1 winner Passage Of Time, the Group 2 winner Father Time and a half-sister to Timepiece, winner of the Falmouth Stakes (G1).
Passage Of Time is the dam of the Group 2 winner, Group 1 placed and 121-rated Time Test, now a young sire at The National Stud. He shuttled for the southern hemisphere season to Little Avondale Stud in New Zealand.
(15:09)
Lot 1526:
Stephen Hillen was left as underbidder after Michael Youngs bought Argumentative for 425,000gns on behalf of Jane Lyon's Summer Wind Farm.
"Jane bred Mozu Ascot, Frankel's Group 1 winner in Japan, so she is delighted to have a mare back in-foal to him," said Youngs. "The mare will be going to the US, and there is enough in the pedigree to transfer to stateside.
"The mare, of course, has already produce a Group 1 winner in Epicuris."
(15:03)
Lot 1522:
Mike Ryan buys Revered from the first Juddmonte draft offered at this year's December Mares Sale.
"She is a lovely mare, from a leading Juddmonte family and has already produced a Group winner," said Ryan, buying for Beech View Stud. "I am not sure yet whether she will go to the US, options are open."
The Oasis Dream's Group winner was her first foal Commemorative, a daughter of Zamindar and winner of the Autumn Stakes (G3). She had a Kodiac filly in 2017 and a Frankel filly this year.
She is from the family of Hasili, Banks Hill, Champs Elysees, Dansili and Intercontinental.
(14:40)
Lot 1517:
"This is a family we've been looking to buy into for a long time, and the opportunity came up," said Rory Matthews of Barouche Stud after buying For Now, a Lawman three-year-old from the family of Cassandra Go, Halfway To Heaven, Rhododendron and Magical.
Magical, of course, gave the pedigree a recent top-level update courtesy of her Breeders' Cup Turf (G1) second.
"She is in-foal to Golden Horn, and we'll get her home and settled in and then make plans," added Mathews.
She was sold by West Blagdon Stud and was bred by George Strawbridge.
(14:22)
Lot 1494:
Anchovy, a daughter of Galileo and out of Countess Lemonade (Storm Cat), is purchased by Cambridge Stud for 75,000gns.
Countess Lemonade is a winning, Listed-placed full-sister to Ruler Of The World, the champion European three-year-old and the Derby winner of 2013, and a half-sister to Duke Of Marmalade, the champion European three-year-old of 2008.
"The Duke" was a five-time Group 1 winner, victories coming in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (G1), the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1),

(14:07)

is purchased by Ko Saito's Ever Union Shokai, a Japanese bloodstock and equine transport agency, buying on behalf of Japanese breeding interests.
The Shamardal mare is called Little Shambles and is in-foal to the popular leading first-season sire No Nay Never. She cost her purchaser 80,000gns.
She was the winner of three races and has had three foals, including the two-year-old of 2018 called Hermocrates. By Farhh, he cost £82,000 as a yearling.
The mare's 2017 filly is by Style Vendome, and her foal of this year is a colt by Dabirsim.
Little Shambles is a grand-daughter of the European champion three-year-old filly Golden Opinion (Slew O'Gold).
(13:47)
Lot 1441:
Woodcote Stud buys Lubinka, the three-year-old daughter of Mastercraftsman owned by the farm in partnership with Qatar Racing.
"We are delighted to have her home again," said Barry Reilly of Woodcote. "She is a lovely scopey filly.
"She was injured in the spring so will not race again, but she was a
talented racehorse and did not really get the chance to show what she could have been capable of – trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam once described her as 'exceptional'.
"We would like to cover her with top stallion, such as Kingman, or we would think about Roaring Lion, too."
Lubinka had just five runs and won once. She was rated 100 at her best (she retired on a mark of 95) and finished sixth in the Fillies' Mile (G1) and fifth in the Musidora Stakes (G3)
(11:54)
Lot 1431:
the first mare sold this week in-foal to the four-time Group 1 winner, the dual 2,000 Guineas winner Churchill, sells for 92,000gns to Tina Rau Bloodstock.

She was bred by Juddmonte and is from the Group 1 family of Raintrap, Sunshack, Meteor Storm and Polish Summer. She was bought from the farm by Jill Lamb Bloodstock in February for 30,000gns.
(11:27)
Lot 1415:
Naqaawa, from the Shadwell draft, is bought by Cathy Grassick on behalf of Yvonne Jacques's Carisbrooke Stud. The daughter of Shamardal cost her new connections 180,000gns.
"She is a beautiful filly," said Grassick, "and is for Yvonne's developing broodmare band - as a daughter of Shamardal and out of a Darshaan mare, she was a no-brainer to buy.
"I bought a full-sister Kafaala two years ago so I have been following the pedigree very closely – most of the siblings have been well-rated as racehorses, and this year's yearling was bought by Mark Johnston.
"There are a lot of upsides to the page and Naqaawa was as good-looking as I had hoped for when we went to see her."
Jacques reported that the initial plan is to send the three-year-old, 89-rated filly back into training for 2019 and see if her race record of two wins from eight career starts can be added to.

Chairman's Statement
At the conclusion of the 2018 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented:
“The world’s highest-priced filly foal in 2018, new record December Foal turnover of nearly 35 million guineas, as well as an unprecedented number of foals selling for 500,000 guineas or more and also for 100,000 guineas or more are all heartening statistics to be able to take from this week’s Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
"Above all, the December Foal Sale has confirmed that the demand for quality stock remains robust and we must thank the consignors who have presented some truly outstanding foals this week for their confidence in Europe’s premier foal sale.
"All week the buyers have commented on the quality of the foals on offer here at Park Paddocks and despite uncertainties in the market-place, the cream of the British and Irish foal crop has been met with enthusiasm by pinhookers and end users alike.
“As ever, the pinhookers have worked tirelessly all week and we look forward to seeing a large number of this week’s purchases returning to Tattersalls as yearlings next October.
"The sale has also been targeted by a large number of the world’s leading owners with international buyers from Australia, Dubai, France, Japan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain and the USA all making significant contributions to a sale which has produced the 16 highest priced foals sold in Britain and Ireland this year.
“While we can reflect on the positive aspects of this week’s December Foal Sale and also the record breaking Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, we should not overlook the challenges that currently exist in certain sectors of the bloodstock market.
"The overall clearance rate this week has fallen and it is abundantly clear that the current imbalance between supply and demand at the lower end of the market is an issue for all concerned. Nevertheless, we now turn our attention to the Tattersalls December Mares Sale which every year showcases the finest breeding stock to be found in Europe.
"The December Mares Sale is always an unmissable event for thoroughbred breeders from throughout the world and we look forward to another truly international renewal."

"She will be a lovely addition to come back to the farm eventually," said Mockridge. "She is out of a fast 6f mare and we are looking to go down the 'Galileo' route a little with Frankel - send him some speedy mares."

Lot 1022:
consigned by Fittocks Stud on behalf of owner-breeder Gerhard Schoeningh, the Dubawi half-sister to the Australian Group 1 and Royal Lodge Stakes (G2) winner Best Of Days (Azamour) sells for 725,000gns, bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock.
She is out of Baisse, a daughter of High Chaparral.
"Crispin de Moubray bought Baisse for me as a Book 2 yearling," recounted Schoeningh, "and we sent her into training to Sir Henry Cecil - he was my first trainer and this is a great tribute to him.
"We eventually sent her to Germany and she managed to win at Listed level there," added the breeder, who owns and manages Hoppegarten racecourse.
Baisse boards at Fittocks Stud and Schoeningh retained her first foal Best Of Days and raced him until this year, selling the four-year-old son of Azamour to Godolphin this spring.
Now trained in Australia by James Cummings, the colt won the Kennedy Mile (G1) at Flemington at the beginning of November.
"This filly has never put a foot wrong," added Sara Cumani of Fittocks, "and has just been so straightforward. The mare is in-foal to Nathaniel and we hope she'll go back to Dubawi next spring."

Lot 1014:
the Frankel filly from Stowell Hill Stud sells for 700,000gns, bought by Hugo Lascelles.
She is out of the Stowell Hill-bred mare Middle Club (Fantastic Light), who is owned by the Middle Club Team.
Jeanette McCreery of Stowell explained: "She was bred at Stowell and raced by my late husband Bob. We sold her at the December Mares Sale to race in the US, and she visited Distorted Humor and Medaglia D'Oro in the states.
"But she came up for sale and Bob bought her back – we put together a group of five people to own her."
It is a Stowell Hill pedigree through and through - under the second dam is Billesdon Brook, this year's winner of the 1,000 Guineas. She is currently on her holidays at Stowell and McCreery reported that she is "rolling in mud and glaring at the the other fillies!"
